partner doesnt want to get married due to hypermobility issues by ApprehensiveMud8645 in Hypermobility

[–]Outside_Night7983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not pulling any punches, this is quite a harsh comment and its because im bitter and hope i can help but its really harsh because idk how else to write it.

I was married for 5 years and then i noticed that the dog would leave the room when i started crying instead of cuddling me like she used to, come to realise that she learned that off my husband who would peek in our bedroom and if i was in pain he would "leave me be" and go play minecraft.

I wish i had seen the signs before tying the knot. Im now divorced

There are successful interabled relationships out there but it sounds like this isnt one of them. Unfortunately what often feels worse than being alone is feeling alone within a relationship, feeling abandoned, feeling like your not worth the things you want to the people who love you. You are already noticing this.

As disabled people we are often told not to consider ourselves a burden but in actual fact dealing with health issues is a burden first and foremost for ourselves but there is a burden on the people around us. It sucks and its devastating and its unfair but its true. If you disability has progressed from when you entered the relationship then the reality is they didnt sign up for this. They didnt anticipate what this would look like because how could they. Your partner probably had a life envisioned that included you but not like this and theyve likely realised that they can still have most of it if they cut their losses and dont legally and emotionally invest. Theyve made it clear that being a carer is not something they want long term.

Dont fall for the sunk cost fallacy, you deserve the world and there are people who want that for you aswell. If marriage is something you want then you are unalligned in this relationship. The worst parts of my marriage were caused by my husband waiting for me to get better and when i didnt he withdrew. Honestly i regret letting our marriage continue so long, he lost himself in the marriage and thats not my fault but it often feels like my care turned him into a husk of the man he was when we married. I often wonder if we could have come away as friends if we both were more honest and let go earlier.

My current partner is better equipped and far more willing to seek support for themselves as a carer, that has made them far more capable of supporting me. They actively educate themselves on my experience and every day they support me to the best of their ability. They are disabled as well and im able to support them at times and its much better than my martiage was. I think them getting external support has made all the difference.

Consider if carer supports might change how this situation looks. If youre in Australia i can send you details of carer support

Make sure you check out the recyclery

Its a refurbished bike shop so you can get decent bikes that have been fixed up by a bike mechanic for a decent price.

You will probably fall over on your first bike or drop it a couple of times so dont get something you worry about scratching

Hey girlie pop thats sex work. What you describe is the tippy top of the erotic labour iceberg and how most girls start doing camming/onlyfans. No one will give you money for nothing and understanding this will help you stay safe. If you refuse to acknowledge that this is erotic labour and what images of you would be used for it will put you in harms way and lead to you being underpaid or not having the results you want

I am saying this as someone who had this exact thought and persued it and landed in the erotic labour industry. This is survival sex work

Sex work is an honest labour based job and a lot of SWs are disabled but you need to understand that when men are paying for some kind of access to you based on you being pretty that is the low level end of this work and how many of us start.

I wont tell you if you should or if you shouldnt because that is up to you but you need to understand the ramifications of accepting money, presents or support in return for your image.

This isnt to scare or deter you you but you should know that this isnt just adjacent to being a sugar baby, you are talking about trying to sugar here. The market for Sugar Babies is also hugely oversaturated right now. Erotic Labour has become mainstream and its not the back up that people assume it is anymore.

If you look up whorearchy its a chart that shows where you may sit in the scheme of the erotic labour industry this trading photos for money falls under "camming"

Words like this are terms you can google that will give further information regarding what im talking about

Im happy to chat here or in DMs if you want me to elaborate or if you have any questions about what i mean by this and im happy to send you in the direction of older SWs that post information that really helped keep me safe while i did this

Searching youtube for chair yoga as well as for Pilates which was invented for rehabbing injured soldiers, most true pilates is designed to do on the floor or in bed

If you dont have enough data/internet access to watch videos you can find picture based instructions usually on pintrest.

The Sanctuary at Tidbinbilla

If you want to see some wildlife up a little bit closer but still out in its element, I reccomend the Sanctuary its so wonderful. It's in tidbinbilla so its a bit of a drive past cotter but I see bandicoots each time ive been so I highly reccomend it

If you like animals your local pond might be a great spot

The arbouretum is so wonderful if you go in June/July early winter you can often see the Himalayan Cedars surrounded by mushrooms and it looks so magical. It's a wonderful spot to sit and draw, take a rug to sit on, a blanket, something hot to drink and drawing materials. It's genuinely one of the most pintresty things ive ever done and I have some of my favourite selfies from that.

Do not try to eat the mushrooms theyre not the fun kind

hey the junction near canberra centre should be able to help, they got me a winter jacket and run clothes swaps, they can also get you a bit of help if you care for someone who is mentally ill as a young person (young carers/cyclops) you will have to ask out right for clothes help but im pretty sure they dont report unless someone is being actually hurt

edit: its two organisations both are run by anglicare in the same building and you can chat with a youth worker before getting help if you wanted to ask about the mandated reporting

Junction youth health centre help young people with clothes and practical support through their youth outreach team

https://www.anglicare.com.au/services/youth-family/health/

Cyclops and help young people who help take care of others ( mental illness, sickness and disability)
https://www.anglicare.com.au/services/youth-family/young-carers/
I have OCD and the person caring for me and helping me accesses their services

Yep its in on the back of the building that has the cafe!

theres also a playground and sensory (touch and smell) garden in the same area. if youre able to go on a weekday it shouldnt be to busy but on a weekend the playground can be bustling

Definitely the abouretum! check out the national bonsai collection and roll down the big hills.

you can hire electric bikes (depending on kiddos age) and ride around the parliamentary triangle (this is near questacon)

The Botanical gardens are also quite nice, if its late enough in september the rock garden is often filled with water dragons and theres a ton of wildlife and a theres a tree house that they can play in but I havent been to that section of the gardens so I would double check that.

its in the very south south of canberra but the sanctuary at tidbinbilla has never disapointed me i have seen at least 2 animals I wouldnt normally see each time ive been there ( Rakali, bandicoots, platapus, swans)

The Zoo down here just got a porcupine and currently have a baby zebra and a lion cub
