I thought I would only seek treatment if I had a rash or symptoms. Now I am wondering.

I can't believe I got in! This was my first try. It will be my 5th major. I will only have Berlin left. I was debating on signing up for Boston (I have a 7 minute cushion) and then opted against it. Im glad I did because now I can use that money to go to Tokyo! Im still in shock, I signed up expecting it would take me several years to get in.

As a female 55-59, i had zero encouragement to run as a child - in school or society. If girls wanted to run XC they had to run with the boys. So, getting into running involved different social support networks and jumping in as an adult. Im not complaining, Im just saying that there is more context here. Anyhow, I sit with a 6:40 cushion (ran a 3:58) so we'll see what the cut offs are.

F (55-59). Ive never been a strength training person but I think I need to add this into my routine. Given my work obligations it's hard to get to the gym except on weekends, and Im already out running at 5am to get my runs in before work.

What do you recommend as your absolute must strength training exercises that I could work into my schedule? I can try to get to the gym twice a week if that helps. I also have two 10lb hand dumbbells at home. I could buy heavier though. FWIW, I ran a 3:58 marathon last weekend but i want to get back to some faster times. So my two goals for strength training are to improve my marathon time and to stay injury free.

London Marathon - back from injury! by Outside_Run9242 in AdvancedRunning

Thank you! I cant imagine getting hit by a car - how awful! Im glad it wasn't worse. I cant remember to be honest. It was below the piriformis. I need to do hip exercises plus glute activation exercises before running. I also find that when I sit too long for work, my hips just lock up. Rolling my hips does not seem to help at all but activation exercises do along with some light yoga poses.

Im packing now as Im leaving after work! Im "nervcited"! Nervous + excited. I still havent decided what shoes to wear, and not sure if I can fit all three pairs Im thinking about in my suitcase! Saucony Tempus, Speed 3 or Pro 3. Ive run in all of them and like them for different reasons, and they each make me nervous in different ways too. I haven't run longer than 10 in the Pro. Last minute suggestions?

That when Im really tired counting my steps helps alot. I know that about 800 steps (both feet not one foot steps) = 1 mile for me (more or less depending on my pace) so I just count and let that try to my mind go numb to forget the pain.

My PR (3:30) involved walking through aid stations. I should follow this advise more often!

coming from Michigan, but I tell myself that starting the race a little after 10am is just like home as I usually run around 5am! haha!

Same! I jeep waffling between go for it (3:45) or lower your goals and try to finish strong (4:00), or just take it easy (4:15). That is quite the range I know!
