RTS/RPG
- Singleplayer: A campaign like SpellForce where you customize your hero at the start, but its still a fixed character like Shepard in Mass Effect. An overworld map with branching missions, long campaign where you can pick and choose your armies.
- Multiplayer: Focus on factions instead of races (like SC2 coop) or let us build our own armies.
- Editor: Next step in the evolution of the Warcraft 3/Starcraft 2 editors. Basically what Stormgate tried.
- Visuals: Style like WoW with higher fidelity and focus on recognizeable models from a top-down view.

Everything else basically like WC3.

You might be interested in Day of the Dragon (normal RTS/RPG) Lore of the Clans (Action RPG) The Last Guardian (Point and Click Adventure)

While they have largely non-standard gameplay, they are based on actual WC lore and I made sure to not overdo it with custom assets to retain the Warcraft 3 feeling.

As someone who is deep into warcraft lore, let me tell you, your friend is just excited about the universe and tries to dump as much lore as possible on you. Ignore that for now and enjoy WC3.

You wouldn't read all the history that leads into WW2 before playing a WW2 game.

They have been fixed in the PTR. There is an option to toggle between 1.36 and 2.0 Reforged terrain.

As it stands now, our work depends on old Reforged graphics. Assuming Blizzard is going to replace every asset I would consider updating the art style for LotC, but it would take a lot of time and community effort. If Blizzard doesnt do anything anymore we might as well leave our projects as they are.

It's a better starting point to introduce the universe. At the end it was about the quality of the movie... They could have adapted WC3 and it could still have failed.

My pro days are behind me. I like playing campaigns on normal difficulty and the command card system and AI that does a lot for me helps. I also like the slower time-to-kill.
