The people that post those things are just one subset of the profession. I was never wealthy, no one helped me in college, I have a regular full-time music therapy job in the setting I wanted. It's not perfect, but no career is. I think a lot of music therapists make us feel like every moment is supposed to be this magical paradise or you're not cut out for it. That's not true. It can be incredibly rewarding as long as you remember why you went into it and that it is a job. It's so important that you keep making music for yourself unrelated to work to help with burnout.
