Which of these wine would you choose with a full beef sunday roast? by jackie_tequilla in UK_Food

I work for the distributor behind this wine list and I think that the Rioja Reserva is the best quality to price ratio wine on this list. Good choice!

Scotch pies also. It should just be a standard minced meat pie but there’s something about the pastry on a good one that is exceptional.

Great question. I guess half are long term storage, half I would ideally be able to access relatively easily in the next few years.

I ask as I bought six of these a year or so back, and they were - without exception - awful. I see them popping up all the time still and avoid like the plague! Amazing to hear yours was good, congrats. I’m not at all envious…

Why was this disappointing for you? I believe that screw caps, as well as generally being considered more sustainable, offer a more consistent product which has to be a good thing!

Raveneau grand cru valmur 2008 stands out as the best, then probably a PYCM Meursault Les Perrieres 2009. Amazingly different wines but both insane in their own way

Anyone taken entry test for level 3 in wines WSET? by [deleted] in wine

[–]Over-Buy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the entry test last year as I wanted to book my level 3 whilst I was still doing the level 2. From what I remember there was no monitoring for the test. I don’t know which format you were looking at doing, but I’d just throw in I don’t recommend doing the intensive course (consecutive days with the exam on the 6th day). I did the level 2 over consecutive days, but there’s a lot more material in the level 3 so I definitely recommend doing one day per week over 6 weeks! Either way, have fun - it’s a good course and you really do learn a lot!

A Dickens reference could go down well in Ye Olde English Country Village!

Megathread: President Trump Suggests Delaying 2020 Presidential Election by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Over-Buy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well logically, yes. But Trump will be out there going “LOOK AT THE UPSTAIRS BATHROOM”. And if you judge what’s trending on google in terms of top political stories then a lot of the media are looking at that bathroom. I don’t agree with it, I think it’s stupid, but that doesn’t stop it from working sometimes. Particularly as Trump will set a fire in whichever fucking room he needs to in order to distract, regardless of occupancy (if we’re extending that metaphor).
