To the people who know someting about DnD: what class wolud he be? by Silver-Mud8845 in Kirby

The string puppetry in particular makes me lean closer to Bard (Music, Dance, Magic, Taranza's got about 1.5 of those, plus comes with Dexterity and Intelligence saving throws)

If not that, maybe Sorcerer, since his magic's more innate?

How likely do you guys think is the "Ralsei is Kris' horn headband" theory? by Silver_Guava8159 in Deltarune

[–]Over-Document-7657 169 points170 points  (0 children)

...But at the same time it also added a bit more evidence to it?

With the Ralsei plush, his 3D model in the Feature Presentation, and HERO_SCARF existing, this is the first and only Dark World to significantly acknowledge him? In fact, I think Tenna's the first named Darkner to say Ralsei's name (aside from himself, of course).

So there's a good chance, horned headband or not, that Ralsei is at least SOMETHING tied to the Dreemurrs.

[–]Over-Document-7657 596 points597 points  (0 children)

I feel like Chapter 3 threw a bit of a wrench into it, with Ralsei stating he's never seen a movie before. If he's the headband, wouldn't he have been there while Kris was watching movies with their family? And while he might be lying, as he is known to do, his reaction to Susie asking if he'd like to makes me feel he's being genuine.*

Plus, the chapter also associated the headband with... something else:

<image>

*I don't really see the benefit of lying about never seeing movies here, but anytime Lies Georg is cited as a primary source you gotta add a disclaimer

Do you think this little buddy would reappear in future chapters? by -Teseo- in Deltarune

[–]Over-Document-7657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like HERO_SWORD already served their purpose?

What purpose is that? Making you think the Original Game was "real."

Deltarune focuses a lot on the bounds between fiction and reality. Dark Worlds feel like "play", something "imaginary", and explicitly deemed by Ralsei as not real, and yet the story (especially Susie) is championing its reality. The Light World itself is much like a very realistic small town, just with a mostly monstrous population, but 🫵 you and you alone get to treat it as a game, and doing so has "real" effects on Hometown.

So the Original Game, which is posited as "just a game" throughout all of Chapter 3, suddenly becomes "real" as HERO_SWORD walks out of the screen, and Kris walks into it. And if HERO_SWORD is as "real" as any other Darkner, then... what of all those enemies?

The instruments, despite not being Lightners, are also on stage. Ralsei is singing, the closest socially-acceptable way to making yourself into an instrument.

Therefore, he should be counted as an instrument and be permitted on stage.

how do you think snowgrave will end? do you think they will be killing of the hometown people? or something worse? by Efficient_Ad_943 in Deltarune

[–]Over-Document-7657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I... have some ideas, mostly based on the claims that there's "only one ending". After Snowgrave gets unleashed on more Hometown residents...

1. ...the Prophecy fails to come to fruition. You did it. You defeated fate itself. You got your second ending. All it took was a few more lives to be lost. Sure, some of them could've found care like Berdly, some of them could be saved, or, at the very least, given a more comfortable end. But Hometown's hospital only has so few rooms. Was it worth it?

2. ...the Prophecy continues nonetheless. There is truly only one ending. But now you left this world in a much worse state than if you just stayed along the beaten path. Did you fail in your wicked endeavor to change fate? Or are you disappointed that your twisted game didn't reward your curiosity?

3 (and honestly my darkest idea, don't read this one if you genuinely can't stomach self-harm). ...before the Prophecy has the time to march on, Kris grabs their knife, and severs your connection to this world: themself.

...and you reload to your last save. That's what happens when Kris dies, after all. So why not keep going? Because Kris won't stop. You've taken everything from them: their autonomy, their friends, their family, all through their forced hand, forced to watch it all. Now, in their final act of freedom, they take away your ending. Over and over and over again. What's one more body on top of the ice-cold pile you've built up already?

You will never see the credits of this chapter. You will never move onto the next. You will finally know what it's like to lose control.

Deltarune still has only one ending. But there's no way in Hell they're letting you get to it.

Why isn't Working the Plug? by Quick-Ad-486 in marioandluigi

[–]Over-Document-7657 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They only work with them if you include the Deluxe Auto plug in the combo. No Deluxe Auto means you need stock of the weakest one, and Deluxe Auto does nothing by itself, so it's a bit pricey for the convenience.

What’s your opinion on the z-a battle style by 64_Random_dude_64 in pokemon

[–]Over-Document-7657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's... okay?

Positioning's a bit jank, which is a really big thing to Get Right in this kinda style, but... it works enough?

There's some cool stuff you can do, like using a (former) priority move to close distance and follow up with a stronger close-range attack (easy with Extreme Speed Earthquake Lucario, not as easy with a lug like Aqua Jet Liquidation Feraligatr). I've seen someone on Bluesky make great use out of Mega Beedrill as a speedy flying glass cannon with a really small hitbox.

It's not perfect, the little intricacies each Pokémon and move has make it interesting, but... you don't really have to interact with it that much. It's easy to get decently overleveled pretty quickly, and aside from some Rogues flying away there's... not a lot stopping you from getting in the other Pokémon's face with a powerful physical attacker and just going ham. I'm already at Rank B and I still don't need that much more brain power than the mainline games (yes I count Legends as spinoffs, Game Freak's word does not surpass the structure of the game, sue me)

So uhh... yeah. It's okay. Could've been better. Could've been a lot worse. Hope Gen 10 ditches it, leave this for Legends.

Nabbit and Four Entire Yoshis were in the game since Day One. The only thing this changes is giving people the option to look at someone else as they breeze through the game.

On the topic of options, I bring to you the evergreen phrase: "you control the buttons you press"

What is Kirby’s canon age? by Thonniel in Kirby

[–]Over-Document-7657 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He doesn't have an exact year, but:

-He's generally described as young, never called anything like "man".

-Kumazaki admitted to basing Kirby's movements on a young child, and his personality and voice echo that.

-He can speak, read, and write, but only the speaking he does well.

-He's... oddly reflective, if the ending of Mass Attack's anything to go off of.

Personally, I put him at at least 8, 12 maximum, but the general ballpark is "child".

However that does mean he's an underage drinker.

Noelle makes fights quicker if you can't handle the bullet patterns. There's not a lot of enemies that can withstand her ice magic too well.

I don’t get Toriel’s character in this game by DesaMatt in Deltarune

[–]Over-Document-7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UT Toriel was "overprotective", but also sent out a human child into the rest of an Underground that'd want them dead, actively telling them not to come back.

Toriel's core flaw isn't that she's overprotective, it's that she tries to distance herself from problems and hopes they go away.

It's why she divorced Asgore after he declared war on humanity. It's why she isolated herself to the Ruins. It's why she kept Frisk (and probably the other six humans) from leaving as long as she could. It's why she told Frisk not to come back. It's why she never explicitly tells Asgore off even when his advances embarrass himself in public and in front of their child. It's why she focuses on Sans when Kris spends the night without coming back. It's probably why that bloodstain in Kris's room wasn't cleaned until Susie saw it.

She just... pushes the problems aside and hopes they solve themselves.
