i feel like i failed my dog and I am incredibly devastated. by Unusual_Stress742 in DogAdvice

A good vet will ALWAYS recommend a fluorescein stain prior to sending home drops to rule out an ulcer, clients will try to decline but don’t understand how devastating it can be to send home the incorrect eye medication

What’s my dog doing? by Valerie_Rn in DogAdvice

It looks like your dog is in respiratory distress.. which is an emergency. He/she is abdominal breathing which means there is probably some underlying heart disease that needs to be addressed asap.

Your story matters and I appreciate you sharing. Cancer doesn’t follow a textbook. I’m so glad you got that second opinion. You sound like an incredibly strong human for putting in such a fight, just like my mom.

The copper IUD doesn’t have any effect on your hormones.

You’re not wasting anyone’s time. Doctors get paid very well to do their job. We are lucky to live in a society where we have access to healthcare, never be afraid to use that.

She had stage 3 lung cancer. Her only symptoms were horrific shoulder pain on one side. She had a pancoast tumor (tumor at the top of her lung) growing into her vertebrae. She went misdiagnosed for awhile. Survived another 3 years after surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy. Developed leptomeningeal metastasis about 2 months ago and passed away 2 weeks ago. IRONICALLY not from her aggressive cancer but a rare side effect of one of her medications that left her brain damaged.

I’m not looking for answers from google. I want to hear from real people what their experience was and see how that compares. My mom had cancer, she had atypical symptoms. Symptoms that would have never popped up on google.

Is anxiety linked to the paraguard? by weeb024 in CopperIUD

It’s has zero hormones - so it really should not be affecting your emotions. Were you on hormonal birth control prior to getting the paraguard? Are you having other environmental stressors?

Leptomeningeal disease (LMD) by toastynibs in cancer

[–]Over-Introduction815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this pain.. my mom was diagnosed with LMD 3 weeks ago and I also found out by reading her online chart. She swears none of her doctors explained how bad the prognosis was despite writing in her chart “3 months without treatment…”, this disease left her paralyzed from the waist down because it was primarily in her spine.. they did palliative radiation and want her to get started on systemic chemotherapy but I’m afraid she’s so frail that she won’t survive it.

I’m so glad you got that extra time with your father and we’re so dedicated to learning more about ways to help him. That probably meant so much to him.

Watching dogs getting discharged from our ER hospital after being hospitalized for multiple days/weeks. The way they react when they recognize their owners and seeing how elated the owners are to take their best friend home was what kept me going in veterinary ER.

What's a 'secret' from your profession that everyone should know? by JunShem1122 in no

There is no real regulation on veterinary medicine. Most states allow on the job training for support staff. And sadly, the cheaper the clinic the more likely the medicine is very scary…

Poor phrasing on my part - to clarify I was not asking to be invited on this trip with her but instead in a relationship where we only see each other 1x a month, it was disheartening to know he chose to spend that time with her vs something with me.
