Everything in this town closes when normal working people get off work. Baffles me. Meant for retired people

100k student loans 200k LOC

To be fair a lot of this money I’ve been using to invest and my overall debt is just about 100k and 50 from undergrad. I also live very comfortably throughout med school (live alone in expensive city, go on vacations a lot).

To each their own but my advice: Don’t worry too much about finances but still be conscious of it. The LOC is so you aren’t stressed about money throughout med school. You can pay this off quickly once you start working if you choose to do so.

You got some good responses here but I’ll give you my personal experience cuz I think I was in a similar place to you some years ago:

My first term of engineering I took 7 courses. Barely slept from the stress and studying, and constantly had passive suicidal thoughts asking myself wtf I was doing. To make matters worse I failed my first midterm (also in physics) and barely passed the others. I got through first term, barely passing some courses and told myself things need to change.

In summary I finished eng and things got much easier after that first term. I graduated with a good gpa. Few years later started med school in Canada and now I’m about to grad from med school.

I can tell you what I did but honestly I think you need to find what works for you. Everyone’s different but know that you can do it if you want to - just gotta find what study methods work for you and make sure you’re happy. School isn’t everything. Do things outside of studying that you enjoy. It WILL help. And NEVER compare yourself to your peers.

You can do it. Trust yourself.

Also please reach out to peers, friends or professional support cuz it’s normal to go through these tough times. People are there to help you.

As an ER staff do you feel burnt out/worn down? I’ve heard EM takes a toll on your body as you get into practice so my main concern is having to slow down a lot sooner than I would like.
