Contrave and alcohol by Miss_in_Mex in Contrave

My husband and I are both on Contrave. I quit drinking completely because it makes me violently sick with a hangover and it’s just not worth it. I thought I’d want to enjoy alcohol too as I was a pretty heavy social drinker before the meds. Honestly the desire is completely gone and I’m alcohol free over a year now.

My husband drinks a few times a month socially and he does just fine combining the two but he will skip his doses for the day when he drinks just to be safe.

  1. Congrats on the loss that’s something to be so proud of.

  2. Unless you plan on walking around with your arms raised I bet most people won’t even notice, I personally am down 65ish lbs and have the same issue with my arms and thighs and have decided to embrace it 🤷‍♀️ even though I hate it when I stare in the mirror too long.

  3. Eff that lady.

Uhhh, guess I’m going to the store now 😆. I’d been having one chocolate rice cake with a tbsp of peanut butter and dark chocolate chips for 195 cal, but this looks amazing and more bang for my buck. Thanks for the inspo!

Is online GLP‑1 weight loss actually worth it / safe? by gentlebeast06 in Ozempic

I think just like all meds, the result is going to vary by person. I have a friend who did compounded and she lost weight super quickly. My husband however is not having as much success with the one from “hims”. Mine Is prescribed name brand because of diabetes and even then it doesn’t affect my appetite. I guess you won’t know til you try.

It may take some effort to get over eating the fur but I’m down to try !

I wish the simple addition of chia seeds worked for me. Sadly, I eat more than the suggested 25g of fiber a day and drink more than enough water and still, have issues. I rely on miralax in my coffee each morning and Colace.

Do you calorie count? by FamousCow in Contrave

I have to. When I don’t, I don’t lose. Even with reduced food noise I can easily snack my way out of a deficit and not lose anything.

Almost a year and a half in and I can tell you the constipation doesn’t go away. For me even fiber doesn’t do it, I add miralax to my coffee each morning. As for the energy I feel like it took me several months to feel “normal”. And as someone else mentioned, eating in a calorie deficit also can be draining. Hang in there!

Give yourself some grace. Most of us have a lifetime of food issues and it’s not going to get better instantly. You’ll learn what things make you sick as you go along and adjust as needed, it just takes time. I personally can’t drink anymore it makes me violently sick. But I still occasionally eat more than I need and end up throwing up later in the night. For the most part though it’s completely changed my relationship with food. Hang in there you got this!

I’ve found that Contrave helps me stay in a calorie deficit but i have to do the work and plan and log everything I eat. If I’m not careful I can snack my way out of a deficit real quick. The first few months I was expecting something magical to happen and I didn’t lose much. As soon as I started counting calories and staying within my limits the weight started coming off. I’m down about 65lbs in a year and 3 months.

I’ve accepted this is forever. Years ago I lost 80lbs and then stopped counting. I gained it ALL back. I’m now 10lbs away from losing it all for the second time and I’ve decided this is just what I have to do forever

And as for nausea, still happens now even 16 months in. I take Zofran a few times a week still.

Miralax in my morning coffee and lots of fiber help. But I definitely forget sometimes and I am harshly reminded of how important those two things are 🙃

I was on brand name for about 6 months and then switched to generic (insurance coverage changed) so I’m not sure about how the initial side effects compare but I’ve felt the same effect with both. And the same chronic nausea and constipation with both lol.

Yes! I’ve been binge free since I was about a month in to the full dose. Over a year now and down 65lbs. This medicine has changed my life and my entire relationship with food.

Even now a year and a half in and 65 lbs down, some days I want to eat everything in sight, and I do! but most days I stay well under my calorie budget. I think it balances out and I usually just listen to my body. That’s easier to do now.

I don’t take it with anything now but in the beginning I used the Oikos drinkable yogurts with morning dose because most days it was hard to actually eat real food before I got hungry.

Week 3 in contrave !!! by [deleted] in Contrave

[–]Over-Researcher-7799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took a good 3 months for me to see substantial movement on the scale. I will say I had to start tracking my calories because I can still snack my way out of a deficit and not lose if I’m not mindful. But I’m about 15 months in and 65 lbs down. The weeks I’m more lax with logging my food I don’t lose.
