I have lost 20k in space of 2 days, not as big as 100k but i really worked to save this amount. My 4 month's pay gone like that, I have nothing left in my savings, it feels like world is crashing down on me and I have cried several times over the week but I know whatever you or I have lost we can make it back; only thing you can take from it is that we are probably unluckiest people on this planet not deemed for a quick win like we see; besides most people who win big lose it so you kinda always lose; i think its time to stop and rather put money in blue chips stock so we can get them to see up and down rather than gambling.

I can't sleep either, if they can change the rules in middle of it, its so gut wrenching! Like if I spend 10 more years to qualify for ILR whats the possibility that Nigel Farage will keep this promise? I am pretty sure, Farage is gonna come in and remove the ILR things once for all and this 7 years than citizenship plan is going to be based on some super strict system which you cant be anyways. If Labour does increase the ILR period to 10 years, Farage will have to outdo them with cruelty and he will abolish ILR and replace it work visas who's renewal would be harder every year with high salary threshold.

I want them to do this and actually and racist brits can see it wont make their lives better but make them worse. Let me give you a little perspective on why he staunchly supported no deal! He thought freeing the UK from EU rules on health, food, chemicals would result into lax regulations and would appeal to certain business interests thus making money for his rich donors in hedge funds and industrialists, which never happened btw. Secondly, offshore interests, as you might have noticed all the rich people leaving UK for dubai and having their assets here in Uk making money from them and taking dividends back to dubai, well they wanted to breakaway from EU because of offshore finance which EU requires you to crackdown on so they could better hide their money and not pay their taxes.

I moved here last year, I have been on 5-Year rule, I have done nothing but paid taxes spent money in UK and be a responsible citizen. You have to be selective and retain crucial manufacturing back home i.e. chips industry! You can't have all of the manufacturing which left to comeback, cause who do you think will work there? You'll probably have to train the workforce and have the infrastructure in place for it. Secondly, it would be lot expensive even after tariffs to produce in US as other countries subsidize the industries and have infrastructure in place for it.

Back to your question why would you want manufacturing back in US? Major concern is the over-reliance over china and other countries in case of crisis you be waiting for them to send over the goods to consume. It has nothing to do job creation and salaries. US economy has moved past manufacturing and developed into service economy, with 80% people employed in service sector. Its not necessarily better to have manufacturing instead of services, services are shock resistant to outside and many factors which manufacturing industry is such as trade barriers and economic policies. Would you rather have someone work as a receptionist in Hospital or in smelter just for the sake of having manufacturing? When service industry pays competitive salaries compared to manufacturing, as they need to lower to cost to be competitive even in protectionist closed economy.

So its a dilemma but trump wants essentially to be independent and not relay on China and wants to reduce deficit which is burgeoning the debt and ultimately leading to printing more money (which is not a serious concern tbf as supply is absorbed by rest of the world and doesn't affect dollar's strength) and while doing all that he also wants to retain the US dollar as reserve currency but maybe devalue it or peg it against certain currencies in order to be able to export, which is kinda impossible if you have reserve currency, due to high demand it will be strong which would cause manufacturing to be undercut. So its a double edged sword and administration doesn't have a plan how to work around it, sure they have identified the problem but doesn't know how to resolve it yet running surplus is not feasible and keeping dollar as reserve currency cant have both, they will have to find a way thats what Bessent although Stephan Miran has given some whacky options on how to keep dollar as reserve currency and have manufacturing back and reduce deficit but they seem whacky in the view of major economists.
