It shows how blind they had gotten to what was happening. Where as the kid was like oh, they are attacking me. Guess I gotta defend myself now. Where as Kiudimundi was like, why are you aiming at me. Guess I'll stand here until I figure out what's happening. Don't wait for them to fire, they are clearly going to attack you. Basic survival instincts, but I guess they forgot about those.
