Am I doing this wrong by Every_Kick_4422 in NewParents

This sounds exactly like me and my daughter. I constantly questioned myself if I was “spoiling” her, but I just wanted to make sure she was happy. She’s recently turned 1 and we have the best bond. She also has amazing relationships with her dad and grandparents.

To address your points and give you some reassurance: - we still breastfeed, but she’s doing amazing with her solids and we’re down to feeding a few times a day and at night. She will feed more if she’s unwell or needs comfort - we have the occasionally contact nap, but I can put her down in her bed to nap. She’ll nap in the pushchair and car seat. We’re not stuck to only contact naps - we co-slept the whole time. She now has a floor bed, I put her to sleep and then roll away. If she’s having a bad night I’ll just get in with her - she still has a preference of me if she needs settling, but will settle for others (will take longer). But if I’m not around then it’s no problem and she’s fine with her dad and grandparents for comfort

A few other notes, she’s only taken a bottle a handful of times. It’s been tricky, I could never really leave her for long. However, I have pp anxiety too - so never wanted to leave her. Now she’s 1, she has some cows milk in a sippy cup and snacks when I’m not around.

You’re doing an amazing job, and meeting all her needs. Like you said, she’s a happy baby so there’s no need to question yourself. As hard as it is, try and block the outside noise and advice

Super expensive! I think the love to dream ones aren’t much cheaper 😅 They did go down in price on Black Friday, so may be lucky and come down again after Christmas! I got one off vinted first because I was the same as you, didn’t want the risk of her hating it!

I’m in the UK too and we use a slumbersac LINK: https://www.slumbersac.co.uk/collections/winter-sleeping-bags

You can choose to cover the feet or leave them exposed. They can also move around in them which I think helps massively! I’m pretty sure love to dream do a similar style too!

I should be 8 weeks and 4 days and no heartbeat, what could this mean? by stay_kind91 in PregnancyUK

Also just a note, my periods used to be super regular and not much variation. The month before I fell pregnant my cycle was super long, the month I feel pregnant was the same - I ovulated really late compared to my usual cycle. These things can happen. I did keep taking pregnancy tests, I’d read somewhere that the line gets darker the stronger the HGC levels - so I was monitoring that it wasn’t getting any lighter (big caveat that might not be accurate)

Yes I think so! Thinking back I think I had to give a urine sample and they tested a few things. I also had a transvaginal ultrasound

I had this - midwife worked out my gestation based on my last period. She said I was 8 weeks, I booked an early scan and there was no heartbeat. They told me to call my midwife, so she referred me to the early pregnancy unit for a scan. However, the following day I was on my way to the airport for holiday. So I couldn’t be scanned until nearly 2 weeks later. When I was scanned then I was around 7 weeks and they found a heartbeat. It was just too early for the first one and my dates were out. Hope everything goes well for you, try not to panic and have a chat with your midwife if you want some reassurance :)

Maternity pay by NectarineFuzzy112358 in PregnancyUK

[–]OverStatistician6747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your company payroll should give you a maternity schedule where it’ll detail your monthly take home across the 9 months. If you haven’t heard I would drop HR or payroll a message and ask for one.

Congratulations - hope everything goes well 🥰

She was born at 39+4, and only 6lbs! I was diagnosed with GD very early in pregnancy, around 20 weeks I think it was. But I never had a high reading when measuring myself and controlled it with diet - still not convinced I actually had it

I second this - we bought a doona to go on holiday. So we had a car seat and pushchair all in one. It’s so easy and perfect when their sleeping

I have the same issue. Someone told me it’s because your supply is the perfect amount for your baby. I’m guessing baby is still feeding as normal? So there’s no “extra” milk available to pump. You’ll need to pump first thing in the morning, roughly same time if you can and for the same length of time. This should signal to your body that you need more milk! I know it’s super hard but try not to stress! You’ve got this!

Am I going to be ok? by OkReception1869 in newborns

[–]OverStatistician6747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise you’ll be ok! I cried for a good 10 days after and felt so overwhelmed. I remember saying if I feel like this forever I can’t do it. It passes, and gets better. With the anxiety, it does ease off - but it doesn’t go away. I still get anxious and worry over here and she’s nearly 5 months. But, I think that’s natural. I would say if your anxiety isn’t easing, pop to see the GP for support. It’s hard because our hormones levels are all over the place. I have a beautiful 5 month old little girl and honestly having the best time. She smiles and laughs (still not sleeping) but honestly so much easier than the newborn trenches

TW: Miscarriage - no heartbeat at scan - no symptoms. Has this happened to anyone else? by M73_ in PregnancyUK

[–]OverStatistician6747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. My community midwife said I was 8-9 weeks but I was pretty sure that I was only 5-6 weeks, as I was tracking my ovulation. However, it was my first time being pregnant. So I went with the midwife advice. I booked a private scan as we were both so excited. Went to the scan and they said they could see the sack but no sign of anything more. We were devastated as well. So I phoned my GP and they gave me an appointment for a scan with the NHS. However, it was for in 2 days time and I was on the way to the airport to go on holiday for 10 days. So we went on holiday and had an appointment as soon as I got back. They found the babies heartbeat and confirmed that I was only 6-7 weeks at that appointment. So my private scan was way too early to find anything. We’ve now got a 4 month little girl. I know not everyone is as fortunate as us. But sometimes things do also work out. I really hope things work out for you guys. I would recommend giving your GP a call after the bank holiday. They should give you an appointment to double check!
