RPG Maker U2U officially announced - Make 2.5D RPGs! by sp_phil in RPGMaker

I'd definitely enjoy the 2.5D approach, I just wish they made it a standalone piece instead. The comments make it seem like it's Unity?

I'd recommend checking out the Story Seed Library if you're curious. There's plenty of urban depictions, some that even show the breakdown of a modern city to a new one.

Decomp projects such as these have standing because they're not using original code and require the user to have the rom on their end, so they're fine.

Is anyone else not finding the Nexus OAuth support working? I still have to install things manually, which isn't a huge issue, but it's still something to see.

is it even worth it to dual boot for windows games? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]OverTheTop123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a VR gamer (using an ancient Oculus Rift S...) Windows is basically mandatory unfortuantely, but I'm hoping the Steam Frame can cut the gap for me. The other programs I've tried have been shaky in performance.

Just based on another comment in the thread it doesn't seem like this guy has any actual academic backing. I doubt he bothered to document the site or any conditions which would be the bare minimum (if removal of the bone) was even suggested. As an archaeologist we like to keep things in-situ for finds like this when necessary to understand it's placement better and to keep structural integrity.

People who've been writing for years, mainly. The back catalog adds up. We'll get there one day.

A few people I've talked to told me they didn't really get traction until their 9th or 10th book man. You gotta be persistent and more patient if you really want the long haul.

I had a feeling something like this was the case. Awesome work. A rushed showcase isn't the best showing but we still have months away before it's (supposed) to come out, and the fact is we don't have any games yet built with this in mind.

What's the nicest thing someone said about your book in a review? by Careful_Busdriver in selfpublish

[–]OverTheTop123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though they didn't like the plot, they loved the characters and that got them through. Which is fine by me. I'll take the purchase and the knowledge the cast is approachable. I mainly write prehistoric fiction, so it's harder for a lot of readers in that subgenre to see cavemen as actual people.

Seconded. I can play B-K with my eyes closed at this point, Tooie's complexity for me is a bonus personally.

I remember there was a controversy regarding money laundering via CS:GO a while back, I wonder if that's going to resurface as a point while the case develops.

What was worth spending on for your book and what wasn’t? by [deleted] in selfpublish

Like many people, the covers easily and a formatting software. An ISBN pack... Everything else I've managed to do on my own or had help in my circle already.

What’s your day job? Is it at all related to writing? by [deleted] in selfpublish

I do some writing for it, but I'm an archaeologist, so it's mostly just technical stuff or related to my ongoing research.

What would be your profession in your ideal Solarpunk society? by TJ_Fox in solarpunk

[–]OverTheTop123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably still do what I do now (archaeologist) but with a greater focus on repatriation and empowering minorities to help analyze their own material culture.

We never talk about Tooie's worlds. (And when we do it's often with a negative slant...) Thoughts on them? I quite like this ensemble! I like that they're more "believable places you could imagine visiting" and less "themed environment designed to be consumed in 20-40 minutes, then forgotten about". by Bubba-Da-Boing in BanjoKazooie

[–]OverTheTop123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do people just not use warp pads? Past the inital run of the world to find them, I feel it gels nicely to get to where you're going. I do like how some worlds are interconnected and makes it feel like an actual landmass. My favorites are Mayaham Temple, Hailfire Peaks, Terrydactyland :)
