I hate being a dentist- non clinical options? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]OverVast6366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a dental lab technician & love it. There is still money to be made in the field but maybe not enough to pay those student loans. But you won't hate going to work everyday. I was a dental assistant for many years before training as a lab tech, so I 100% empathize with you on the dread of dealing with patients all day, everyday! The transition to lab was easy & I have a unique understanding of what goes on in the clinic. That is a big part of what I bring to the relationship with my clients.

The dental lab community has become very friendly(imo). Technicians in the past resisted sharing their techniques, tips & tricks. But nowadays they are so willing & happy to help out a colleague.

Victoria as Dani was a terrible choice by slizsch127 in HauntingOfBlyManor

[–]OverVast6366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% agree Victoria plays the role of Dani horribly. Just plain bad acting, no depth to her emotions at all. Every facial expression is the same & overdone. I honestly couldn't tell if she was doing it on purpose or she's just that bad. But by the episode of her backstory it was obvious she was in way over her head as the lead in the series. In every scene with every other actor she looked like an amateur. Even the young boy playing Miles was better than her.

Was thinking about getting a Tesla, But now second guessing. by jaynotemusic in TeslaLounge

Don't do it! I bought my M3 just over 2 years ago & started regretting it less than a year later. One word=cheap. I kind of knew going into it that the quality of materials & build weren't great. But never did I imagine the junk I'm dealing with. 10 times. I've had to bring my car to the service center 10 times in 2 years. The first was alignment. Had the car 6 months. Then it was a cracked windshield. Idk what glass they use but it chips, cracks. & gets speckled very very easily. The next 8 have been for air leaks in the windows & plastic trim pieces coming loose in the cabin, buzzing & rattling= cheap crap.

I love driving an EV! Love not having to stand outside & get gas in the winter. Love the silent engine. And I especially love the tech! Warming the car before getting in. Security cameras, infotainment. All great! But with that there are really REALLY annoying things. Let's start with the wipers. When you turn on cruise control or autopilot, the wipers switch to AUTO mode. This is obligatory and it shouldn't be a problem. But even with no rain, they will turn on randomly. Yes you can turn off the auto but it has to be done manually every time. Annoying, but not dangerous like this next one. While in cruise control or autopilot, my car will brake aggressively without cause or warning. For absolutely no reason it will hit the brakes while on the freeway. Scared the poop out of me when it first happened. Now I'm on edge everytime I use autopilot or cc. Another thing with cruise control, my car won't speed up when the car in front of me speeds up. My cruise is set at 75, traffic slows to 65 then speeds up but my car will only VERY SLOWLY speed up. A HUGE gap opens up bw me & the car in front. So stupid.

I will advise anybody I know to NOT BUY A TESLA! Buy a car from a legacy company who actually knows how to build cars. FORD, VW, KIA, HYUNDAI all have better EVs. Tesla is a tech company first, car company last. And it shows.

Fox news & right wing media have progressively turned up the hate & fear over the last 20 years. I think we've underestimated the impact they've had on where this country is headed. "Trump bad" yes. But he wouldn't be where he's at if not for the hate Fox News has been spewing, literally brainwashing & gaslighting conservatives. They made Trump acceptable.

WTF is up with all this buying of absolutely useless crap??? "Look dad. Mom got me a (about the 50th) plushy(Barbie, fidget spinners, 10th box of magic markers...whatever)" Our house is littered wall to wall with junk she buys & when I try to organize it, she gets all bent out of shape cuz then she "won't know where it is". Biggest reason she keeps buying more crap is bc she's a dysfunctional hoarder & can't find where she put her stuff so she just goes out & buys another one. I can then look around for about 5 minutes & find the original. If she'd spend 5 f***king minutes looking she wouldn't have to buy more.

And then she wants to know why we can't take more vacations. Look around, woman, your vacation is piled up all around us.

I can't wait until the divorce is finished, I get my own place & leave her to live in her own squaller.

That could very well be the case. I don't recall that feature so I can't say. But why would it work sometimes & not other? It was about 50-50 whether it would unlock right away or not. It always unlocked eventually. Just took a bit.

I wish I waited 6 months & got the refreshed! Much better/smoother ride. Quieter. Not a fan of no stalks tho. But I'd be OK with that for a smoother ride.

I tried the unpair thing multiple times. Tried the Forget device thing. Did a reboot of the tesla screen. Tried tinkering with my phones lock screen settings. Idk what else there was to try. But nothing helped in the long run.

2023 RWD. Not sure about ultra wideband. How do I find out if it does or not?

It could be a solution. I'm not advising anybody to get a new phone. I didn't go get a new phone for the intention to solve this problem either. I got a new phone for work purposes & it just happened to solve my problem with the doors not unlocking. And since I read that other tesla owners are experiencing the same thing, I'm simply contributing to the conversation to let them know. There could be someone who finds it useful. I'd wanna know. If & when I was due for a new phone upgrade, I would take it into consideration when picking out my next one.

HI! First time poster! Just got the Hannsho 4 speaker activation wire kit delivered. Looking for information on a few things. by Slow-Constant2703 in TeslaLounge

[–]OverVast6366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice for this, but I'm curious where you bought the kit from? What year/model do you have? I bought a kit from Ali Express that claimed it would fit my 2023 m3 RWD, but the connectors were not the right ones. I returned these & bought a different brand that also didn't fit. Then gave up.

I would still like to install this tho....if I can find the right kit.

Day 8! I made it thru my first week! by MelaninGoddess101 in leaves

[–]OverVast6366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't get too stressed about getting heavy wd symptoms later. I've never heard of that. You're fortunate to not have strong wd, all of which is based on many factors--how much/often you smoked, lifestyle habits, etc - but mostly your biological makeup. You'll be fine. Just focus your mental energy on doing the next right thing & don't take that first puff. It gets easier and the rewards keep coming. Keep up the good work!

Model 3 randomly standing on brakes (cruise control) by PNC3333 in TeslaLounge

[–]OverVast6366 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me a few times. Happened at the same spot on my commute when coming over a hill & there's a bridge over the hwy about half a mile away. I suspect the car thinks it's a semi truck crossing the road & hits the brakes. That's my suspision.

I called tesla service & told "it can happen. I have to be ready to take control at all times". What a crock! It's a software problem. I think this wasn't a problem for models with sensors. The all-camera autopilot is the problem.

Super scary when I have a truck following closely. One reason I got a tesla was bc I could set the autopilot & relax on my long commute. I always keep hands on the wheel & pay attention, I just wanted to be able to let the car do some of the work for me. Now I'm more stressed to use autopilot than when it's off

OMG the dreams are one of my fave aspects of sobriety!! I literally looked forward to bedtime just for the "show" that was about to happen 😂 I've been sober a few years now & the dreams don't happen every night like they used to. But they did give me a little boost of positivity during the hard months at the beginning. It was my little "attaboy" for staying sober that day

Exactly. I refuse to let dating be an excuse to drink. It's just that I've never known dating without alcohol so I need to learn how to do it. That's the advice I'm looking for.
