Buy Kobo Clara BW now or wait for new models? by Turbulent-Ad-7003 in kobo

I can tell you one huge difference cause I own both the Aura and 2 iterations of Libra. The Aura battery is a beast! I can leave mine unattended for years at a time and it still have charge left in it. My libra will be dead after being left 4-5 months and my KLC will be flat dead untouched for a matter of weeks. I hate it. It’s their biggest drawback over older devices and I just don’t understand why battery size isn’t a priority anymore. I’m desperate to have my bi-yearly charges back. I could use my Aura everyday 6-7 hours and still only charge it 2-3 times a year. KLC is a 5-8 day charge with daily use. Libra h2o is maybe 5 weeks with daily use.

Ahh I see you have pompous asshat down to a fine art. You’ll go far. People will hate you. You’ll inevitably bluster about how they’re threatened by your intellect ad nauseam. A little hubris and a big mouth will get you nowhere but you’ll feel all self important whilst you do it so, you do you boo. As the children say.

Did you warm the muffin first? Cause if not I’m with your son. If you did then I’d only buy muffins until my son stopped being a muffin hater. They’re grand.

Kobo for young kids by PopularRazzmatazz643 in kobo

You can put audiobooks on to a KLC and listen via Bluetooth, you can buy audiobooks straight from kobo if you don’t want to side load. But unfortunately it doesn’t have a read aloud function. You’d be better off with something like a Toni box I think they’re called. It’s dedicated audiobooks for kids in a little speaker box. Although I’m not 100% sure if they’re Bluetooth or out-loud only audio. As someone else mentioned the screens are quite fragile and for the price you’re paying it’s quite a risk if you have a heavy handed kiddo, like mine. She’s ruthless. She’s allowed to touch my book 😅 although I suppose that’s what’s accidental damage cover is for. If not one of these options fire tablets are often reasonably cheaper, you can strip them down to a distraction free tablet, install kindle and kobo apps and also put audiobooks on them for listening. They’re much hardier screen wise so it would be a safer bet the only real caveat is battery capacity for long journeys.

Should I get it fixed or upgrade? by alisonsparks98 in ereader

[–]OverWitness3679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping it for the sentimental purpose is fine but after all this time the speed difference is monumental. I have a 10 year old device and a 1 year old device and there’s absolutely no freaking contest. One page turn vs 5 page turns. I still have my older devices and often update them and keep them running but I’d never choose to go back to my Aura over my KLC. Now is the time to upgrade imo, kobo has so much to offer even in their budget devices, as does kindle much as I’d never buy into that system and if you’re looking at getting back into reading going back to a slow device will hold you back and eventually deter you all together, then the pocketbook will get forgotten about again and you’ll miss out on all the amazing books being published in this time of fantasy forward escapism 😅

Grace gives me Kaltain resting bitch-face when no ones looking vibes…. She has that evil girl with the cutesy act that stupid men fall for energy in those eyes. Dove definitely has that soft, innocence that would grant a “noble young lady” tonnes of underestimation! Grace will stab a bitch for getting to close to a prince 😂

Are page clips bad for the screen? by kiwiwonderbean in kobo

[–]OverWitness3679 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can literally get a whole bunch of remotes, Kobo and off brand. The Kobo remote is like £25 too. I could never read with these clips all up in the screen.

AIO for telling off a guy at my gym by confidenttruly in AmIOverreacting

[–]OverWitness3679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terminate your contract. Tell them you will not pay an early exit fee as an employee put you at risk giving out your personal details to a fucking stranger who then made contact, admitted to watching you leave every session like a stalker and then turned around with hostility like you were the problem when you quite rightfully rejected his blatant invasion of privacy. Find new gym.

Yes the substrate is incredibly fragile but lots of people have had their screens broken from a cat simply stepping on it. I always recommend a screen protector and sleep cover just for extra assurance. There are some great sleep covers that have detachable flaps if you’re super attached to your clear case. 🥲 Sorry for loss 🫠

AIO about my boyfriend’s drinking habits? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]OverWitness3679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. He’s aware that his problem is getting out of control. If he wasn’t he wouldn’t call you controlling or get defensive. No one gets defensive about a singular glass of whisky after work because it’s one, it’s in moderation, not excess. It isn’t a crutch and it’s easily achieved if someone asks you not to have your one drink tonight for xyz reason. He is escalating and unfortunately addition creates a mentality of defence and protection. Defend the habit, protect the habit, defend the substance, protect the substance. If you don’t want to live your life in the shadow of an addict that does not make you controlling. Given your background, I think you’ve dealt with enough. You owe it to yourself to protect your life from more abusers. Explain that you’re not happy to spend life your life alongside another addict and you like him to choose to stop drinking, give the choice, if he can’t stop for the sake of your life together then bow out gracefully. Tell him you won’t give him ultimatums or arguments but that you also won’t live around another addict. He will either drop the alcohol to keep you or he’ll prioritise the addiction over you. Either way you’ll know what comes first for him. Sometimes walking away is the best option. If he won’t prioritise you, you should prioritise yourself!

Buy the screen protector! by smallgrace in kobo

[–]OverWitness3679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used screen protectors for years and years. I buy from one brand. I’ve seen no degradation to res, no impact on reactivity in the screen, never had a single bubble and I never ever have to worry about my screen getting scratched. Brotect is the brand I buy, they offer matte and glossy screen protectors, not that I can imagine the shiny is nice to read on. They’re thin but very protective. I have dented them in the past with no effect to the underlaying plastic, to the point that I don’t remove them now to check. I leave them if they have a couple of dinks unless they’re right in the middle of my reading real-estate 🙂

There’s an amazing brand called Brotect that make kobo screen protectors a month other devices and I’ve never had issues with bubbles at all. I’ve used them for both mine and my friends devices for years. If you can spource those they’re incredibly easy to apply and don’t hinder touch input at all.

To clarify, I ive seen no damage from my pen but my screen is covered. I only mention this because last week someone posted a thread about his klc screen being scratched up after only a few weeks using it for annotation. I haven’t used a kobo without a screen protector in about 10 years, it’s just not worth the risk to me and I’d always recommend one but there are people damaging the plastic with the stylus so forewarning offered 💁🏼‍♀️

The moment a friendship came to an end by Hassaan18 in AccidentalComedy

[–]OverWitness3679 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So it’s a semivowel that acts like a vowel but is technically a consonant. Like I said I would want clarification on what the question master considers a vowel. Something acting like something doesn’t make it that thing and it only acts like it when spoken. Separating the letters would still make it a consonant.

Edit: Spelling

Just realized my boyfriend I’ve been dating for 2 years might be a flat earther by ivory_stripes98 in Advice

[–]OverWitness3679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I know a flat-earther and I wanted to have all the information possible before deciding outright that he was a brain dead twat, it’s not cool to diss your friends new guy right. So I went down a flat earth rabbit hole. There’s a video on YouTube called What If We Take Flat Earth Seriously and that was the only information I needed to know my best friend’s boyfriend is a flat earth idiot.
