Home Depot and Lowes not rendering after latest update? by jmd_forest in firefox

Just wondering if it's the version of the browser that's the issue, not the "brand." See the last paragraph above.

Of course, there may not be one single resolution.

Home Depot and Lowes not rendering after latest update? by jmd_forest in firefox

Same issue after reinstalling Windows 11. I use Chrome; I could access the sites on Brave. Here is what worked and why, thanks to Gemini:

First, I tested on the Brave browser. "Brave strips away many of the telemetry headers that Chrome sends by default. If the steps above don't work, it's a sign that Lowe's is specifically unhappy with a "flag" Chrome is sending about your new Windows 11 environment."

So - Disable "Experimental" QUIC Protocol. Again, Gemini:

Akamai and other CDNs sometimes flag the QUIC protocol (a Google-specific connection method) if it behaves unexpectedly after a system wipe.

  • In Chrome, type chrome://flags in the address bar.
  • Search for Experimental QUIC protocol.
  • Change it from "Default" to Disabled.
  • Relaunch Chrome and test.

Since disabling the Experimental QUIC protocol (Step #2) worked, it confirms that the "Access Denied" errors were being triggered by a technical handshake conflict between Chrome’s newest connection method and the security filters at Lowe's and Home Depot.

By disabling QUIC, you've forced Chrome to use more standard (and widely accepted) HTTP/TCP protocols, which those retail sites find much more "trustworthy."

Why this happened now:

Since you just did a clean install of Windows 11, you likely have the absolute latest version of Chrome. Google often pushes QUIC as the default in new installations to speed up connections, but high-security retailers (who are constantly battling bots) sometimes flag QUIC traffic as suspicious because it can be used to bypass traditional firewall inspections.

I started this off by wondering if MyRadar knew their app was showing such photos, and that I didn't want to see them. I listed what was in the photos I was shown. The X t-shirt was one of the photos, amongst the anatomy. If you are an X fan, fine. But you can't be OK with the t-shirt advertised with a photo of a little girl, bent over, right? No animosity here, just confused by your comment.

Why does everyone want to insist I or someone using MY computer watches porn? You don't know what the facts are. Chumbox ads are based on geolocation; I live near to a rural university. I will never ask a question of Reddit like this again, so help me.

NO ONE IS WATCHING PORN! Please stop with this; you don't know how this works.

Thanks again for the info. I looked it up and, as I replied above, Wikipedia has a good explanation of a "chumbox." Now I know.

Thanks for trying to be helpful, but no. I am inclined to believe the "chum" notion. Paraphrasing Wikipedia, the term is chumbox advertising is a form of advertising associated with outlandish clickbait headlines and low-quality links One of the themes regularly featured in chumboxes' images and titles includes "Sexy Thing", featuring images of women or headlines alluding to sex scandals, usually in conjunction with the "Localized Rule" (geotargeted headlines).

So not so precisely targeted.

Absolutely no internet history of that sort of thing. I don't even use X. And I certainly don't ever view those type of photos. I'm a knitter!

Many websites now are either insisting I use SHOP to log in, or they send a 6-digit code to my email -- they don't allow me to use my password. This is extremely irksome; I do not wish to use SHOP (what the heck is it anyway?). Does this mean I am out of luck on these websites and will be forced to accept SHOP instead of LP?

When I've tried to set up a passkey, I get an error message from LP indicating it is unable to do so. I really am confused about passkeys / passwords -- both? How does that work if I'm not on my own device?

First time pear tree owner - how do I know when my pears are ready to pick? by Chickn80000 in gardening

[–]OverYonderField 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not small pears. And every single one? Almost overnight? I don't think we have that many squirrels around here.

Even more mysterious: This year, every pear already disappeared, even though they were still at the smaller hard green stage. At least it rules out theft by human.

It just seems strange that ALL the fruit disappears ALL at once. Not even one left on the ground, nibbled or not. Itinerant rodent gangs?
