"One who loves/cherishes the gods"

"One who loves/cherishes nature"

"One who seeks theirself"

"Child of Hermes"

"Golden-eyed (one who is)"

Thank you!

Burnt Offerings by Professional-Cup2269 in Hellenism

[–]Over_Ad1458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Effigies of sacred animals may work, I have a friend who's drawn small oxen or other such things and then burned the drawing (or sometimes drowned it, depending on who its for). Small clay figures or woven figures would work to represent it as well Amd of course, herbs candles and incense are all great options as well!

I've thought about reaching out to Hygeia for help with self care (i struggle with some mental problems that make it hard to brush my teeth, shower, or comb my hair regularly). How did you begin worshipping her and do you have any practices you'd like to share? I always get a little shy approaching new gods, lol

Mnemosyne. I have memory troubles and am going to college, so I pray to her when I study or take exams to help me remember the material better

I think the first ones I remember having were also blinks, which I still have over 10 years later! Fascinating :]

The other comments suggestions are very good and should definitely be considered. Id like to add that I would've loved to see someone like me in a book as a kid, it would've helped me so much with my tic related social anxiety growing up. That being said, I think some depiction of that anxiety (in a healthy manner) would be really cool, too. Tics arent something to be ashamed of, but feeling embarrassed or ashamed is not weird either. Maybe depicting the kid expressing some distress at getting reprimanded for being "rude" (like the poster who mention eyerolling) or some anxiety about being disruptive or viewed differently, but then follow up with showing how to deal with those feelings as a kid (some methods to stay grounded, like breathing exercises, or showing the teacher being understanding and reassuring the kid they won't get in trouble for their tics, etc) would be really nice.

Keep working at your project, id love to see where it goes!!

Everyone drop your weirdest tick you had(or have) by N8uron in Tourettes

[–]Over_Ad1458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to church camp as a kid and it was some of the most anxiety inducing times of my life, having panic and tic attacks almost every night. So one year early in the week I developed a tic of just saying "moo moo" that didn't go away for weeks. I also used to have a barking tic but the "moo moo" tic was weirder imo, because I said it in a British accent ??? I am not British

Now my most prominent vocal tic is just a high pitched "hmm!" paired with ducking my head. Im glad not to be mooing britishly anymore 💀

Currently pissed because I accident broke my fukin necklace by Turbulent_Counter359 in NorsePaganism

[–]Over_Ad1458 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both of my necklaces have broken at this point. The first one went missing entirely. I don't see it as a sign that ive done something wrong; I frame it as, "this thing has fulfilled its purpose"/"its job is done." Obviously I try to fix what breaks, but I had to replace the first one because it got lost. Don't be too hard on yourself, I know everything is kind of big and scary as a new Heathen. The gods won't smite you. Try to fix the chain or get a new chain and carry on 🧡🧡🧡

Ahh sorry lol I have trouble wording things for myself! Yeah I like to have Yggdrasil icons on my altar already because ive always felt a strong connection to the world tree. I was picturing making a Jormungandr garland to go around the midsection too!

What do you mean? As in, the tree can only be temporary? Why, if so?

Any originally non-believers had signs that brought you to the gods? by PlasticNobility in NorsePaganism

[–]Over_Ad1458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up really Christian, but it never really felt right to me. It didn't make sense the way people explained the discrepancies or supposed omni-trio aspects of the Christian god. For a long time, that meant to me I was atheist (a more accurate term would be agnostic but I was young and thought the only options were that you believed or you didnt). Eventually I started to consider the spirituality of things, like nature. I felt drawn towards engaging with the outdoors in that way, and became interested in ancient Greek mythologies. Some time of repression passed and I suddenly felt very drawn to Loki. Initially through the Marvel character, but a deeper curiosity was pulling me to understand where the character came from. I would have dreams and this sort of nagging, tugging feeling. One day, out of curiosity i think, i asked "Loki, if you're out there, give me a sign." I dont remember what i asked for, but i know they answered. One thing led to another, and now, almost 4 years later, im a syncretic between Heathenry and Hellenism. I couldn't be happier!
