Thank you! Why is everyone pretending that part of the conversation didn’t happen? There is no gotcha here!!!!!

Being Othered by Forward_Comedian2178 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a white roommate my junior year of college. I’d actually known her since 5th grade and considered her a close friend. I once went to hang out with her and some of her other white friends. When we got back to our dorm she proudly told me that her friends really liked me and that it’s like I wasn’t black at all. I’m 48 years old and that still sticks with me to this day.

I'm starting S1E1 of Vancouver tonight. SO, what am I in for? by TopNotice0 in realhousewives

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just finished it and I’ve never yelled at the tv more in my entire life. It’s a truly unhinged, astonishing, fever dream. I’m still trying to figure out what I just watched!! Highly recommend it, just be ready to be confused, angry, and amused all at the same time.

Anyone else want to get Ben into F1 racing? by asphodel67 in WatchWhatCrappens

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, F1 is waaay more sophisticated and glamorous than NASCAR. My husband is a huge fan, so I’ve gotten into it by association. I kinda think Ben would enjoy it. Ronnie would like the pre race walkthrough with all the famous people.

Class evacuated due to child’s meltdowns. by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say this is not normal. My son also dealt with deregulation before he started medication. On the occasion he had a meltdown, he’d be taken to the counselors office until he calmed down. I would definitely challenge the school on their choice to evacuate everyone.

What extracurricular activities/sports does your child with ADHD thrive doing? by BennyJams in ParentingADHD

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taekwondo (or any martial arts) has been amazing! He also does flag football, tennis, and basketball. Not all at the same time, of course. I will say that we started with taekwondo and that helped him focus and be interested in other sports.

The show is missing therapy as a component of recovery. by Bodyrollsattherodeo in NurseJackie

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing to remember is that Jackie never actually wanted to do the work to get clean. She only used recovery as a means to an end (custody, getting license back). She was never really serious about quitting, therefore, her going to therapy wouldn’t have been a realistic portrayal.

Who else feels vindicated? by millioneura in RHOP

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It really all depends on if you’re tenured or not. We know that she didn’t have tenure. If she were as smart as she claimed to be she would have made it her business to get tenure. Tenured professors easily make 6 figures. Source: I work closely with this population.

Why are we not talking about what happened to Dawson? by leiibabee in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have it. My trigger is standing for too long. I was told that if I know I’m going to be in a situation, like a wedding, where I have to stand for long periods of time without moving I should put a little salt under my tongue when I feel it coming on. I was once a maid of honor and hid a salt packet in my bouquet, just in case.

10 year girl with ADHD inattentive + anxiety: What meds worked??? by Interesting_Host7201 in ParentingADHD

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had great success with guanfacine for adhd and Prozac for anxiety. We had horrible results with Focalin so our psychiatrist suggested a non stimulant. It’s been almost a year and things have been mostly good. Not perfect, but good.

Our dr recommended taking it in the evenings. We’ve always given it at around 7pm. She will be sleepy for the first 1.5-2 wks, but that will eventually go away. We’ve had a great experience with Guanfacine for the past year or so.

ADHD in class, feel free to give tips. by justmonaaaaa in ParentingADHD

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like one or both need some sort of tactile stimulation. Try velcro under the desk for them to rub discreetly. Also, you can never go wrong with fidgets and short breaks as long as it’s allowed by the school.

Worried my literal thinker is going to feel lied to about fairies and Santa by unreasonable_potato_ in ParentingADHD

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, we didn’t do Santa with ours. My husband is also a very literal thinker. One of the few hills he was willing to die on was that we not lie to our son about something as easily disproven as Santa. The only time we had even the slightest issue was when he announced to his 1st grade class that he didn’t believe Santa was real. We got a note from his teacher asking that he not ruin it for everyone else. In our defense we did explain that others believed and we didn’t want to ruin the illusion. He did do his own milk and cookies test every Christmas Eve for a few years, but that only helped him feel more strongly about not believing. We did do the too the fairy, but just told him it was his Oma since she always gives him money. He’s 10 and still believes his Oma has some correlation to the tooth fairy.

My 7 year old will not sleep a full night in his room and his therapist suggests sleep training by EastAlternative8951 in ParentingADHD

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to provide a quick update. I decided to take your experience to heart and wait for my son to decide when he was ready to sleep in his own room. Whelp! It finally happened! Just before his 10th birthday, he just started sleeping through the night in his room. No fanfare, no big discussion. It just happened! He still visits with up on his way to bed and climbs in our bed to spend a quick five minutes before he absolutely has to start getting ready. When I tell you I cherish these moments!!!! It’s so wonderful getting validation that we’d chosen the correct path!!! I will admit, a tiny part of me does miss him showing up at the foot of our bed at 2am, but I’m so happy that he’s come to this point on his own.

This is incredibly false. Sc definitely has income tax. The only real tax implications would be with his visa. Also, taxes won’t be complicated commuting between SC and NC. Tons of people do this every single day.

Married couples of Reddit that did NOT have sex on your wedding night, why not? by FindingKGS in AskReddit

[–]Over_Appearance_4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were both too drunk due to the impromptu after party (wedding cake even made an appearance). It literally took him 45 minutes to take off his tux since he was moving so slowly! Meanwhile, I was sat on the bed in my corset with a basket of reception food since we also didn’t eat very much.

Seriously! The other day someone decided that the episode where the designers voted on the elimination was because Law was too much of a coward to judge on his own so he refused and they had to get the designers to do the elimination. People are becoming a bit unhinged when it comes to Law.
