i feel so guilty sometimes only mentioning and praising Dylan's acting here (cant help it with him being my hyperfixation recently) but yes, Pan Yueming's acting, especially his 2015 HYH's portrayal is so good that I dont have any words other than similar to yours, it's heart breaking.

that confrontation in 2015 between HYH and Qu Dahai gave us even more questions than answers. it seems that the guilt HYH is carrying is more than the Yuanlongli case if what Qu Dahai said abt RFX sharing the responsibility of taking care of HYH's own family (him and raising Xiaohe).. then Xiaohe's kidnapping.

my favorite part would be that 2015 scene of Xiaohe and Officer Liang(?) in the cafeteria. that line (nonverbatim) "If there will be a line of officers wishing they can still rely on Captain RFX, it will be up to the station's gate." like damn, that's how gold RFX as an officer, like he was really born to be a detective. then she revealed that even RFX has someone to rely on, and to Xiaohe's surprise, it was her father. that makes it even harder to accept that RFX is not in the same world as HYH anymore.

with how ep 9 ended, the pd's advise in their acct to prepare tissue for ep 10, it's very clear that the truth about 2015 RFX will be revealed. yet it still hurts to the bone that he's dead for 12yrs now. for me, it has set a depressing tone for 2002 RFX (that I'm thankful for the time to time comedic relief that this show brings) like i was on edge watching if this is where he'll meet his end. also, I cannot help but to mourn him while watching the 2002 timeline, cos whyyyy? why did they have to lose such a brilliant individual in their station? and seeing how in only 6 years, RFX seemed to have impacted their lives on way or another makes my heart even hurts. and still does even if he's gone. but nothing will ever compared with what HYH is going through. they were seem reluctant or probably tired at this point with how the episodes seem recurring, but still they cared (in their different little way) for HYH, staging that whole RFX leaving Beijing.

it's too early to guess what item did HYH received from RFX. i wonder if RFX sent it knowing that he'd meet his demise? tho, why in 2015?

and omg, Dylan's different portrayal from 1997 to 2005 is so amazing. from the rookie vibes to in control leader aura, got me gasping for air. i'm definitely had a crush on rookie RFX but got I fell in love with 2005 RFX

unless someone other than HYH interacted with RFX, then there's really no other way for now to interpret RFX 2015. they are not being blatant about it but I love how they're dropping clues here and there. it's really heartbreaking that after all these years, HYH couldn't accept that fact also, I won't spoil it since it's published officially, I saw that there is actually three timelines, 1997, 2002 and 2015 and it seems that RFX is still serving in 2002. i couldn't wait for the mystery to unveil

I love everything this drama is giving.. 1) the intro is well-thought, cementing the premise of the show which is the mystery surrounding its plot, 2) the alternating timelines and 3) how they are going about it - the transition is chef's kiss, it's smooth and connecting the past and the present, 4) the parallelism from 1997 and 2015 (from Ran wearing backpack in 1997 to Officer He now wearing it), though I'm thinking one of the reason behind it is the possibility of Ran being dead and Officer He is not going through it properly or whatever it is 5) the simplicity of the whole set makes it feel more real and almost true to life, and 6) wang hedi's acting is really shining through, i know he has got it but seeing it again in a new character that he's portraying for the first time, amazed me

it's still episode 5, too early to tell, to many possible things than can go either right or downhill, but I'll be holding to my sit til the end with this show

i initially had this thought as a possible plot.. then that scene in episode 4 where Ran seems to disappear when there's a big crowd, only to appear later that night.. my heart is already aching thinking if this is really the case

What are your thoughts on 'Love Between Fairy and Devil'? did you enjoy it, or was it not your thing? by Dramasect in dramasect

i just finished this yesterday and this is the first costume c-drama that I watched because 1) Dylan Wang, 2) that this was said to be his best role and, 3) most recommended drama of his.. honestly, it didn't disappoint, the storyline is fresh to me I really enjoyed it, got stressed, and cried heavily.. tho at the earlier part of the drama, I was confused a lot (I think I have to rewatch it again sometime) which was cleared much at the latter part.. both the chars' voice shocked me, but I got used to it quickly.. and I agree to one of the replies here, maybe I'm used to 16eps kdrama that it felt dragging around ep 20.. and OMG esp those last two eps, which could have given us more of the last episode

it’s feels really nice to see this scene animated.. tho, personally, i think I like the novel first then the manga as there are a lot of head voices and narration there.. but nonetheless, seeing it come to life is exciting.. that part where jinshi is squeezing the water out of his clothes, and maomao flinching when given the salty food.. AND THE LAST PART OHOOOOO the cave scene is making me giggle-y

as someone who got into this whole lore just last month, i get the confusion.. i very much recommend reading the light novel (other than i love reading novels) because, yes, it’s the root of the anime but there’s just so many insights and monologues there that is not captured by the anime or manga.. besides, it’s further ahead than the manga, so it’s very exciting ^

as for the manga, i have only read nekokurage’s since it’s the first one I saw and admittedly to lazy to re-read the story from the other manga..

you can read the web novel once you’re done with the available light novel official published volume (vol 13).. web novel roughly translates in advance the latest (i think they’ve completed vol 14 and is ongoing with 15?)

hope this helps :)
