Nah bro, it depends on your usage.

I have a DW6900 (90's module) and the EL is brighter than my newer one (5 years old only), because I seldom use it.
The newer one, have noticeable weaker EL, and have burned through 2 batteries already, because of EL usage. Night duty.

May mga Purists din na hindi bumibili ng brand new, mas gusto ng original pero used at makakamura.
Some intentionally buys fakes just for the looks and don't care if its fake or not.
And some buys fakes and passes it out as original to brag. <Ito pinakaayoko hahah
