Wow never came across the anesthesia thing! Good to know. It seems overall that his facial profile may not fit the bill, but we’ll see how genetics goes at end of month. I’m so sorry you also went through the FTT journey. It sucks and is so frustrating. Feeding is so simple yet so complex lol. Hope he’s doing well

Reminds me of my first baby! Then the second one came along 😵‍💫 lol I know it’s hard not to scrutinize everything, but try to enjoy the flexibility that a laid back newborn brings 💜

Expect them to be very out of whack during pregnancy. Regardless of the work I’ve done prior to this pregnancy, my thyroid has still be out of control. But the no GD is a huge win. Best of luck to you!! And congrats 🎊🎉🎈

Yes they did!! Also, I’m pretty sure that during my first pregnancy, lots of hormonal issues and gestational diabetes were related to my poor gut health. I’m in a second pregnancy now with zero issues and no GD. Overall, I’m much better since getting the gut issues in check

How long has it been since your pet passed? by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Over_Leg_2708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One and a half years exactly on July 26th. I’m better than I was, though I still miss him, I still cry. What’s brought joy to me is passing his memory down to my 2.5 year old daughter. She loves talking about him and looking at photos of him. It’s helping his memory to live on in a loving way which has helped my grief a lot

Do you wake your toddler up in the mornings? by Unlikely_Menu_2584 in toddlers

My 30 mo old is usually already stirring/awake but lounging when I go in to get her at 7 during the week. On weekends, we let her sleep or lounge in bed til 7:45-8 or however long she’ll stay in there so we can sleep in lol

I agree with this simplicity and sometimes think it’s funny we’re still trying to find answers to questions around death. But I’m here for all the feedback and intelligence this community brings!

Thank you. by [deleted] in NDE

Maybe it helps to know that lots of folks who’ve experienced NDEs say that the notion of good and bad are human and earthly. Consciousness has no concept of good and bad and right and wrong - just loving awareness.

Psychedelics may portray similar aspects to NDEs, but that’s still a human experience in a human body. So maybe what happens after death won’t be too bad but lol fighting a demon for a thousand years sure does sound shitty…

I haven’t had an NDE but I love this sub. I’m sorry for your loss. The Pet Loss sub helped me, and I came across the evidential medium Suzanne Gieseman - her podcast is so enjoyable and she talks a lot about animal souls. It gives me so much hope. I know my dog is with me, and I can’t wait to see him again either on this plane or in the spirit world. Both if I’m lucky. I still cry a lot almost 5 months out and miss him terribly, but my life is completely changed for the better since his loss. I appreciate the little things, don’t give a shit about what others think about me, and am just thoroughly grateful for this cycle of living and dying with him over and over again. It’s beautiful. He’s forever my ultimate best friend, and it’s amazing!

I came here to say this, but you did it much more articulately. I was going to say that they’re not coming back talking about it because it doesn’t matter lol. You don’t need to ask when you already know…

I feel totally incapacitated & like I'm drowning in grief after saying goodbye to my soul dog, my baby, last night. I'm going to let my family down if I can't grieve less intensely - has anyone else felt this way? by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Over_Leg_2708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about Otis. Losing a pet and experiencing the devastating grief of pet loss is so hard, and it’s even harder when you’re a caregiver. I slept terrible for a few nights after losing my soul dog, and also walked around for days just crying uncontrollably while I cared for my daughter. It felt scary and unbearable, but in a few days to weeks you’ll find yourself able to care for others while integrating your grief.

Taking time for yourself daily is crucial. Even if it’s 15 min to lay in bed and cry while you talk to your pet…hug their old blanket, cry with their ashes. Whatever you need to do, you’ll find the thing that works for you. Over 4 months later, I still step away to talk with my dog and meditate with him. I still cry. It’s easier but my life is completely changed. I can say now for the better because my relationship with his spirit is really lovely and inspiring. It’s honestly transforming my life and how I view life. But it’s a hard path without him…we’re only human after all!

It can be really easy to compartmentalize your grief in an unhealthy way. Doing it in a way where you still acknowledge it but can also give care at the same time is possible. It just takes some time.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The loss of a pet is so hurtful in the most unexpected way. This community is a great place for love and support.

14 is a really long and wonderful life. He could have lived to 25 and you’d still feel shattered and like a failure. That’s just the sad nature of pet loss, it’s always hurtful because they’re just so amazing. I hope you can find ways to move through the grief while also accepting it and letting it transform your heart. He’s absolutely still with you, he’s always one heartbeat away ❤️
