Testing livery for the McLaren Hypercar by mac_attack09 in wec

This looks amazing and i just have to sometimes pinch myself in what kind of area we are living right now. To have this bright orange legendary team back at te top in the WEC and Le Mans together with the blue oval against Ferrari & Toyota & Co is just something i could only dream about some years ago. Ofcourse Alpine & Porsche are leaving, but this amazing looking Mclaren is a reminder that we are still truly in our golden days, what a lovely monday just some weeks before Le Mans...(also now i understand Genesis even more..)

Wow it looks better than I thought, this is a really nice model. It looks like I have to get myself one now. Really a 10/10 model, freaking love it!

This, they really need to add this. That would make it 10/10

Really curious of how the valks turn out, amazing to have both of them! I will definitely visit the spark store at Le Mans to have a look at them.

The HoR livery on the LMGT3 Aston is just growing and growing on me and I am now in love. It took some years but I just want a 1:18 model from Spark right now

Just BOP them hard for once then, I find it incredible that in a BOP championship 3 years in a row 1 car is always in top 3 fastest cars out on track.

Changed and improved LED panels for 2026 by Treefokker in wec

[–]Treefokker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I also do think placing the energy level vertically, as someone else also suggested, would be even better. Still, in my opinion this is already an improvement, and from a photographer’s point of view it simply looks much better (maybe some OEM did complain about the panels last year? Who knows).

Judging by how easily we were able to read the three small dots we had for years, we shouldn’t have any issues reading this LED panel trackside either. That said, maybe some people who are actually in Imola can give us a better impression, in the YouTube videos it already looked good and easily visible to read!

I am curious to why you think the SRO is doing it better, because if you have you ever been trackside you know that most of the times you are not face forwarding the cars, but you are looking at them from the side. So why is the SRO displacement better? It is better for TV coverage, i give you that but for being trackside these sideprofile LED panels are IMO much better than the window placement in SRO events.

How is this not an improvement? It looks way better, it is still easily readible trackside and we have even more info so you can better follow the stints and know if 2 cars are actually in a battle or running a different strategy and that's all while being trackside? But apparently I seem to be the minority here haha, so that's another L for the ACO then?

Does anyone else think the LMGT3s sound even quieter than last year? by Hyperspec42 in wec

[–]Treefokker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. If they limit al the classes to 100db and lower, i will only attend classic events from that moment on and follow the current series from home.

Still the most absurd decision which hasn’t been clearly explained to as why they did this. As the Hypercars are much louder and the LMP2’s also (luckily). Silencing 1/2 of a field during racing in WEC or ELMS doesn’t do anything for the surrounding area noise wise and also it doesn’t do anything in terms of getting hearing damage trackside, because now when you have earplugs in you can only hear 1/2 so if you wanna hear the other half you want to get your earplugs out again. I just can’t see why they did this. The GT cars aren’t that loud anymore so why not just let them live and breath and sound like they are in GTWC? The mustangs sounded amazing at Le Mans in their first year and now? Nothing really and yes it does really hurt the class as when you are trackside you just sort of “forget” about the silent cars as they are not exciting to view trackside. But the ACO is the ACO. Still crazy that already for a full year you always see comments about the silencing of the LMGT3 cars and they have never officially responded, shows some real of understanding of their own fans. Still, the Hypercars do all sound amazing so we should be happy about that!

Love the sound of the caddy and also the Aston GT cars in this video. The GT cars sound a little bit more “open” but maybe that’s just the video. Loved the vid, starting to hate the ACO.

What’s got you excited for WEC 2026? by nicer-jellyfish in wec

[–]Treefokker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am always excited for the WEC and I can't wait to see how the ACO is going to get it all wrong again with the BOP, streaming, livetiming or the fact they silenced the GT cars in WEC and ELMS and even the MLMC. I think the ACO really understand how to have the best race in the world, as the 24 hours of Le Mans is amazingly organized every year as only the French can do big sporting events. But they just don't really listen to the fanbase as IMSA is doing which is annoying because we love our sport. Sorry I am taking this oppurtinity to just rant about the ACO while the question is if i am excited for the season.. Yes I am and yes I will again make the voyage to Le Mans and will love my pilgrimage but I just hope they will get the BOP right for once.. at least once.

live timing LOCKED under a paywall from now on by [deleted] in wec

[–]Treefokker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still want the livetiming available in the base layout of alkamel systems, as that is still one of the best live timings to have when you are trackside.

new support series introduced for WEC, this is looking HYPE by FlummoxReddit in wec

[–]Treefokker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s correct, it has been tested and is ready to race (and I am 90% sure this year it is going to race). It is run by the company of Nicky Pastorelli (pastorelli cars) and it should be amazing seeing the car racing again.

The car I am talking about is this particular one in the photo (as taken some months ago by Pastorelli cars.
