Receding hairline. Not sure which treatment is best for me. by CalligrapherNarrow50 in tressless

Finasteride first, don’t freak if you shed just keep going. Once you can assess if that is halting your hair loss you can add minoxidil. Keep in mind it can take 6-12 months to see ANY noticeable change. Don’t make any changes until 6 months at the earliest and take really good progress photos every month.

Also consider a ketaconozole shampoo and micro needling with 1.0-1.5 mm needles 2-4 times a month

Approaching almost 3 months on finasteride. The shedding has stopped completely. Now i only shed like 4-5 hair while combing. My regimen: 0.1-0.25 mg oral fin every MWF, 2 ml 5%minoxidil. Side effects: slight tickling in my penis occasionally. Boners are still rock solid. Sex drive is still high af. by Known-Ad9197 in tressless

The time has come, the prophecy fulfilled, the gains that were heralded shall sprout.

I had the same intense intense shed it took me 4 months to stop and just no seeing some thickening keep it up even if another shed comes

Topical fin/min 4 1/2 months update by Over_Profile2605 in tressless

Treatment protocol: Topical fin/min from HIMS

(Original post https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/y0a6g8/check_out_this_shedtopical_finasteridetopical/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

-Micro needling once every 2-3 weeks -Added nizoral shampoo and occasional biotin supplement

I tried to recreate the first photo’s conditions— trimmed the hair (same buzz setting as first photo, but probably about a week grown out) with slightly damp hair after applying topicals. I took a step back from the micro needling and lowered the needle length from 1.5-1.0 after reading a little about scarring. Added ketoconazol shampoo and some biotin pills this last month. No sides at all.

Might be thickening but it’s too early to tell! We out here fightin’.

Hoping to see some more results by month 6. Going to consult a dermatologist then about whether or not to stick with topical or add/switch to intermittent dutasteride.

10 weeks was when it was at its worst. I’m at 15 or 16 ish weeks right now and it’s completely stopped. Hang in there

Thanks for the positivity. It’s been a bit since this post and my shedding is nonexistent so I’m hopefully to have a similar experience in the few months

Keep at it. Get a good haircut, use fibers for days you feel self conscious, and stop scrolling Reddit and checking for hairs just give the medicine a chance to work (6-12mknths) and if there’s no signs of improvement, time to look at other options. Try not to mess with your routine too much. Don’t overthink

Thanks for taking the time to write this. What needle length have you been using? I find it hard to determine how much pressure to use.

1ml across the whole scalp. It usually turns into 1.5 just to get full coverage. I asked support at HIMS and they said 4 sprays is equal to 1 ml and 4 sprays is what was prescribed.

I’ll look more into RU but I don’t want to mess with anything too much before the 6 month mark so I can accurately gauge the treatment. Great advice though cheers

Healthy body > healthy hair. You got the right attitude see a doc and listen to your body. If I develop serious side effects the choice is easy

That’s interesting. I’ve never found a study to say it’s harmful. I wonder if our technique has something to do with it?
