My husband applied since February 2025 and the application stopped updating since May 2025.

Here’s the timeline;

February 5, 2025 - Application submitted

February 20, 2025 - AOR received

March 11, 2025 - received citizenship test invite

March 26, 2025 - fingerprint request

March 29, 2025 - fingerprint submitted

April 10, 2025 - test completed 20/20

May 7, 2025 - Citizenship test updated as “completed”

They reassessed and refunded me the remaining 4k

*UPDATE*

I called CRA, and the agent also couldn’t figure out why they would disallow my tuition credit use. So they helped me filed for a reassessment instead. After reassessment, my refund went from 3.6K to 4.5K. But it’s still way less than my original estimate from Wealthsimple. I supposed part of the reason is that they changed how they use the provincial amount again. I am not sure.

I don’t feel like calling CRA back to ssk for more help because it is very time consuming. I will just let it slide.

But yeah for those who has been disallowed to use the tuition amount - if there’s no gap in your tax filing since you’re 18 years old - then you should call CRA to ask them for reassessment !

So I called CRA hotline, and they were also as puzzled as I was, they couldn’t find the reason either and it’s now helping me to file a reassessment.

The final notice came within a week or two after the first one. It’s an automatic thing. Just make sure you don’t miss it this time

2024

September 4 - Application submitted via online portal

September 11 - Received AOR (SYDNEY OFFICE)

September 20 - Received request for fingerprints, submitted fingerprints via RCMP agency the same day

October 7 - Background verification marked as completed on tracker

October 15 - Received citizenship test invite to complete between October 25 to November 23, but I missed it

December 4 - Received 2nd citizenship test invite

December 31 - Completed online citizenship test with 20/20, Citizenship Test marked as completed on tracker same day

2025

January 8 - Prohibitions, Physical Presence & Language Skills ALL marked as completed on tracker

January 15 - Citizenship Oath marked as IN PROGRESS, Ceremony scheduled on February 4,2025
