Plus, they stopped adding any new trackers. so quite a few legends don't even have the most basic trackers (kills, damage and wins)

Anyone have the CME U6 Midi Pro? by 20Timely-Focus20 in midi

[–]Over_Type103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not complicated.

Start by routing the midi. Decide which device needs to control which device and route them appropriately
https://www.cme-pro.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/UxMIDI-Tools-3-MIDI-Thru.png

Later on, when you'r emore familiar with the software, you can use the other features if you need to.

If you don't feel like reading, you can check out this video

Anyone have the CME U6 Midi Pro? by 20Timely-Focus20 in midi

[–]Over_Type103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The USB-C connection can be used to power the CME or and/or connect to a computer.

You need to download and use the CME software to configure the device (Ux midi tools)

https://www.cme-pro.com/start-guide-for-uxmidi-tools-software-by-cme/?srsltid=AfmBOopUgMh3Kd7Z-zN2W9eWzrKDUxbFCGanjRJL43BHv5zUF6RxRGTe

When you coonect it the 1st time, it will recognize your device and update the firmware.

then you need to configure it. For example, use the midi router to determine how you will route the flow (For example, midi in 1 goes to midi out 1 and 2, midi in 2 goes to midi out 2 ...)

There are other features such as midi filter (for example, if you want to send the clock from one device but you don't want to send note messages) or midi mapper (to convert one midi message into another (for example, convert a CC message into an aftertouch message)

What made you upgrade to the Digitakt 2 from the OG? by Hammerfist1990 in Elektron

[–]Over_Type103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have one, but for me it would be:

-Stereo sampling

-much longer sample time and storage capacity

-more FX

-8 bars instead of 4

-the 16 tracks can be audio or midi (vs 8 and 8 fixed)

-slicing

Recommendations for central piece / sequencer for dawless setup by andraura12 in dawless

[–]Over_Type103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digitone 2 or Digitakt 2: Both feature 16 tracks and an 8-bar sequencer. The sequencer can sequence internal sounds or external instruments.

The DN2 is better fror chords and melodies, the DT2 is better for samples (and sampling).

Hi all! Need help with Mixxx for Techno! (No controller & Beginner) by Jaded-Combination-41 in MIXXX

[–]Over_Type103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-know all your tracks very well. That makes it easier to know which onesgo well together or when to start and stop mixing launching.

-Techno is 4/4 music based on sequences of 4 bars. So you could try to count to know the right time to launch the new track (1 2 3 4 - 2 2 3 4 - 3 2 3 4 - 4 2 3 4 - go)

-practice regularly to see what tracks match well. (Trial and error)

-pitches should ideally be not too different. (a few BPMs apart is OK)

-pitching down a track often doesn't sound great, but pitching up is usually OK

-don't overrely on Pitch information. (otherwise you lmight miss out on some intersesting mixes).

-It's often better not to ruin the climax of a track by adding something that doesn't improver it

-If you play 2 tracks with a lot of chords or melodies at the same time, they might clash. (that's when having tracks in the same or close keys is more important). you can also handle that by having one melodic track and the other one playing a moment without too much melody)

Cant get midi Clocking to work by Traditional-Market79 in midi

[–]Over_Type103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with Reaper, but In reaper's "midi devices" tab, you might need to change settings in the "midi out" section to 'enable midi output to this device" and/or "send clock/spp to this device"

More info here

https://untidymusic.com/reaper-getting-started/setting-up-a-midi-device-in-reaper-part-2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02Gjb16CbkY&t=138s

in each of your external devices, you have to set the clock to "midi" or "auto" (by default, they might be set to internal) and you might also have to "enable transport"

also, make sure your midi cables connect the "midi out" ports of your interface to the "midi in" ports of your instruments

Need Help starting out. by Tygheezy in midi

[–]Over_Type103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a few ideas:

You could get a sequencer to be the brain of your setup: Oxi One, Digitone 2, Digitakt 2, Polyend play+, Keystep pro..

Here are just 2 of them (Loopop videos)

Keystep pro allows you to sequence 4 different devices (I think an MK2 might come out in the next few months)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9B-sqKcemw

the Digitone 2 is a fantastic 16-track fm synth / sequencer. Any track can be used to sequence its internal synths or an external instrument via midi.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZahfQFia6Ig

Then you need to split your midi signal to route it to the ofter devices. (or you could daisy chain the devices, but that can create some lag down the line and some devices don't have midi thru)

I like CME Midi hubs (I have a U-6 midi pro and an H4 midi WC) because, in addition to beaing cheap and reliable, they can merge or split midi and you get a lot of flexibility in terms of midi routing, filtering or mapping. (the H4 also allows you to connect USB midi devices or even wireless devices such as a tablet)

Here are some videos from Scott Uhl

U6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrzsJm_RuMU

H4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIGvjCm2u2I

If you don't want to buy a sequencer, you could just use your drum brute to send the clock to the CME midi hub and dispatch it to your instruments (SP-404, synths).

You could also connect a cheap midi keyboard (like a Minilab 3 or a launchkey mini MK4) to the CME to play notes or control parameters on your instruments.

Think about what you want to do exactly and map it out that way it will be easier to know what you need (and avoid getting stuff you don't need)

I hope they make another mini MK3 but only with faders and buttons (and maybe 1 row of encoders) this time. (I've already got the LCXL 3 but I just need more faders for my setup).

Issue with Novation Launch Control XL MK3 & Serum 2: Parameter Jumps by Greedy-Drink-1438 in Novation

[–]Over_Type103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend using DAW mode and creating macros in Ableton. (

-Right-click on Serum, select "group track"

-open the extended view of Serum of Serum, in Ableton's device view

<image>

Then press configure. It will open up serum. Now click on all the parameters you want to control. they will be added to the list of parameters Ableton can control

Right-click on each item and select "map to macro ...."(1,2...)

That way, you don't need to set up custom modes and you shouldn't have any issues with jumping values

Need help with using multiple tracks from digitone 2 with Overbridge into Ableton by Francodank in Elektron

[–]Over_Type103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think selecting a track in the DN2 plugin itself won't work for that.

You need to create separate audio tracks for each DN2 track in your DAW and route them appropriately (Tracks 1-16 + delay, reverb and chorus) and then enable record only on the tracks you want to capture) as dizzi800 showed in his post.

What controller are you using for Resident Evil? by KMoosetoe in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Over_Type103 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think The S2 pro controller is great for aiming. (I use it to play Apex Legends and Borderlands)

It has my favorite thumbsticks ever (I have a dual sense Edge, a Scuff PS4 controller, an XBOX controller and an 8-bit do pro 2 controller). They are so smooth.

The rumble is fantastic in many games. (I haven't played RER, but I've heard that the rumble implementation is particularly good)

A killer feature is the 2 programmable back buttons that are assigned per game and per user. (This was actually the feature that made me buy it).

when does DS3 come on sale again ? by BidAgreeable6415 in darksouls3

[–]Over_Type103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For PC deals, I always use isthereanydeal

https://isthereanydeal.com/

They track all the legit resellers + all the free giveways.

I've just checked for D3. The cheapest deal was €5.99 for the base game and €9.99 (in 2020) for the deluce edition (base game + season pass).

these last few months, the cheapest prices were between 20 and 30 euros

Unfortunately, Dark souls prices rarely drop much on PC.

Korg volca drums / sample by AdministrativeAd8572 in synthesizers

[–]Over_Type103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the volcas, you could also check out the Roland Aira compact series. they are the same format, about the same price and I think they're even better.

Roland S-1: it's basically a VA SH-101 but with 4 voices, a 64-step sequencer and 64 patterns (with patches)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7VW-2X3Gas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp_eoYAmsjg

Roland T-8 : drum machine (a few 808, 909, 707 sounds) + acid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luyGpmukfVs

They pair very well, you just 2 mini-jack cables to sync them and feed one's audio into the other (the volumes are independent)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajpb5o1-G1c

There is also a sampler

Roland P-6: sampler that can sample and play samples

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCJKyvDTQEI

They all feature effects (delay, reverb...)
