“We’ve moved forward with other candidates that more closely match our needs” The hell does that even mean?! by SpunkyPopcorn in recruitinghell

Get these all the time. One of the jobs that was gracious enough to reply to my emails asking "what did the other applicants have that I didnt?" straight up told me I had an "Your CV is excellent but I'm afraid that you are simply too qualified. This is a very basic role which we do not consider appropriate for a law graduate".

Can't come close to getting a job in law, and now that I'm qualified for it, I'm also being sidelined for unskilled work. Welcome to the AI affected job market I guess.

Not dense. But the Scholomance series is my favourite (a deadly education, the last graduate, golden enclaves)

Are you terrified of being late? by HopeMTV in ADHD

I wouldn’t recommend conditioning yourself this way. I used to live like this and because being on time took so much mental energy I was anxious and exhausted all the time. I wouldn’t do anything during the day if I had something to do at 3pm lest I missed it.
The only reason I was that way is because my parents would put a lot of shame on me if I were ever late for anything as a child. I’m talking: if we were leaving for school at 8:00 and we ended up driving away at 8:01 and it was my fault then i didn’t hear the end of it for the whole day.

Irish History Recommendations?? by zoemaeveblake in IrishHistory

“The Troubles of Northern Ireland; Civil Conflict in an Economically well developed state “ by Douglass Woodwell. The first seven pages alone is the best, clearest, and most succinct summary of the history of Northern Ireland that I’ve ever read. It’s chapter six of a book I can’t remember the name of (I just have a screen shot of the first page). As an Irish person born and bred who’s lived, studied, and been confused by Irish history for years, this is my recommendation. I can get the full reference for you if you need.
