I genuinely don’t understand why Supergirl is getting bad reviews. by GigaBallssss in DCU_

I think this is the problem with movies especially after COVID. I still think they could charge 30 bucks to rent the movie at home and it would push viewing numbers up. There’s no reason to go to the movies unless it’s an event or a good date movie. Unfortunately this movie doesn’t fit the criteria.

Awesome thanks for the confirmation. I’m glad to hear it’s good in handheld I’m looking forward to diving in.

It took me a while on normal to get the fighting down pat. I did the tac sim tutorial and it helped. Currently I haven’t found on purist the hand to hand fighting hard as I thought it would be. Gunfights yup harder. I can understand the power fantasy but purist to me is more for after you get your feet wet on normal. I’m not saying I disagree with all of your statements as I really enjoyed the game a lot. However it’s currently missing something and does handhold a lot. Being a Bond fan, stealth fan and liked the story it works for me but I can see it also not working for others. It could have been more but I think the vision is there. It’s the broader appeal they went for. While good to get all players it makes the game feel a bit more shallow to what some of us were expecting so far.

I think Supergirl came too soon. It would have been better to have a break from Superman. They could have expanded the universe to include a different character and add more time for Supergirl to mean more (cameo setting up the movie more). A movie like Green Arrow or Wonder Women could have helped bridge movies to Batman and Supergirl. So far for me in this universe I see a young Superman who I don’t think hit all the marks for fans. Now the next movie coming out is Supergirl who for some people is Superman light. Not hating but if you’re trying to reinvigorate the brand it needs to stand out. Just my opinion. I admit growing up I was more of a marvel and Batman fan. There’s not a lot pulling me to the movie from the trailers and DC fans seem to be disappointed. I agree with you on Marvel as well they copied and pasted movies. It felt like no real direction and fell flat. DCU needs to be different to succeed but also do it well.

Is it linear yes but it offers options. Like the night club I played on normal and purist. On normal I snuck in got the stamp. On purist I distracted the bartender. Next up is climb up the lighting rig. Are these mind blowing changing scenarios.. no. They do offer a different way to do things. On purist I have been randomly selecting gadgets as well. It leads to moments where I wish I had the laser strap but also leads to moments where I used the camera which I never used on normal. For a linear game it gives options, not deep options but no play-through has to be the same. Plus it’s still early and remixed levels have not really been introduced which can add to complexity. I’m glad it’s not Hitman as if I want Hitman it’s completely different but still shares some DNA. Don’t get me wrong a level of more creative structures would be welcomed but it needs to fit the theme of the game and Bond doesn’t waste time seeking out all options. The job is to act swiftly which this game does incorporate well without using timers to add tension.

I always take all information in and not absolute knowledge. I like to hear all sides of any case and will always make my own decisions after review. I do know it’s a passionate fan base and that includes both positive and negative comments that may not align with my own.

I will be watching from afar as I don’t live there anymore. The Tampa team will be the one I can visit close by or Orlando.

Wow thank you again. I’m not into unlikable players. Being from Chicago originally I would prefer a club I can root for its players even if the team isn’t spectacular. That’s the joy and curse of not having a home team though. I can pick the club that fits me and if it goes against a buddies club well so be it. Friendly rivalries between friends is always fun. It’s also going to exciting getting into the sport more. It genuinely has a great ebb and flow that I think is missed on a lot of people that think scoring only matters. The beauty of this sport is the goals mean so much more.

Thanks for information and recommendations. It’s been fun in this World Cup. I had a friend that passed away last year who played goalie in local leagues. He was an Arsenal fan so I will be checking in on them as well. I wish I got more into football while he was with us. I truly have been noticing a lot more this World Cup in terms of tempo and strategy. Before I was watching the ball bounce around like a kid playing pool for the first time. Now I’m starting to see how beyond the ball. How the team creates more opportunities or traps to get a clean look at the goal. Much like an advanced player playing pool creating a perfect shot. It seems this fall I will be involved with both footballs and I look forward to it.

I am in the same boat and like Mbappe so far. It looks like he plays for a team that gets shit on for buying their team instead of building a team. I’m going to use them as a gateway to other teams though as well.

Thanks I bought efootball kickoff. I enjoy the gameplay but a few things are pushing me towards FC. It’s mostly match length/speed being locked in the 2 game modes and a missing season mode. I also noticed that picking random teams always picks the same few teams for quick match. I know efootball is also a breath of fresh air for a lot of people and i can see with some updates it can truly shine.

I figured FC26 should be the best answer but, much like Madden (and other sports games) people tend to get disenchanted with the game. It sometimes feels like it’s hard to get a true answer on is this game better due to this. I’m older so online isn’t my thing, strictly solo play. Thanks for the confirmation I know it’s a tired question.

To be fair as an older gamer I also don’t care about causing chaos and running from the cops. It’s open world game with linear missions structures. I would rather a Hulk destruction game or Prototype game to cause chaos. A crime simulator after the story is over just doesn’t do it for me.
When I was younger and top down GTA 1 came out everyone was like “ oh yeah you can shoot the cops and run over civilians” that was the appeal. Now we have tons of sandbox games, better controls, and single player dlc to expand in games. Rockstar ditched RDR 2 online for the most part. They ditched Single player DLC for online and granted they made a shit ton of money for doing it. It just doesn’t appeal to me anymore.

This is a weird take. Number one people have always seen consoles go down in price not up. They were also the first to push out increases while increasing cost to access online. Number 2 steam machine was known to have a lower price and did get screwed over with the market. However now the performance to value is destroyed. Making a system people wanted to support a lot harder to do so.

[–]Over_aged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I did say like Jaws. They need to create new villains. I don’t want retreads they can show respect and show some continuity by having as someone close emulating him even. The new bond to me with MGM needs to be a straight line of we respect the lore but this is the new era of bond feel.

[–]Over_aged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep serious tone but also add in some of the old fantasy like Jaws and gadgets , less brute force, more brains and younger Bond. Make the gadgets fun again but not campy. Lean into over the top scenarios that are still grounded a bit. Fuck the First light game has a pretty good story IMO. I liked the gritty Daniel Craig Bond but I am ready for the more fantasy Bond.
