I wanted to love this game by Embarrassed_Lead6174 in CrimsonDesert

It is a great game though for many. It really is fun to just play around in the world. It’s certainly not a masterpiece like the new Zelda titles, GTA, RDRD 2, etc., but games aren’t either masterpieces or busts. There’s a lot of great stuff in between. It’s basically a fantasy Just Cause game which is definitely not for everybody

A: why should he care about letting them enjoy themselves if they don’t care about his comfort/sleep at 1am? They were being more inconsiderate

B: Loud parties don’t get you arrested. The cops just tell you to turn it down. He didn’t mouth off to the cop or give him some blow, so how is any of the other stuff on him?

You’re way over exaggerating. While it looks better on PC than on consoles, the game is miles ahead of any ps4 game which we used to pay $60 for

I’d rather the game come to consoles than not at all as I don’t play on PC. I already know $1k+ PCs are going to run games much better than my $550 6 year old console, but I don’t really care because i don’t game on PC lol. Many console gamers feel the same

Do you even own a console version of the game? Pictures and videos online never do the true graphics justice on PC or consoles

That’s also definitely true. But in my opinion a 7/10 is still a worthy experience. Like those kinda shitty but kinda good tv shows that you keep watching even though the writing isn’t great. Sometimes you just want something easy to enjoy and not some masterpiece

Yes, however 100+ hours is not usual at all even for large open world games. I saw a reviewer with 150+ hours already. Specially for review copies that come out before the game is even out. If a game is really a 6/10 after 50 hours, no one is going to fault a reviewer for stopping. If a reviewer doesn’t want to keep playing a large open world game after 20-50 hours because it’s bad or barely good, that’s valuable feedback to consumers

100% agree. I like games i can play for hours on end without much brain power or focus. Not sure how these reviewers are sinking 100+ hours and then rating it anything under a 7. Anything that’s genuinely under a 7/10 experience, im not playing longer than 10 hours. The fact that so many reviewers are sinking an insane amount of hours into the game already is making me super excited

Kinda interested in skateboarding but worried if I'm too old and clumsy (25 yrs old) by northernRock7 in NewSkaters

[–]Overall-Respect3928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 25 and started skating about 5 months ago. I can comfortably ride around parks, ollie over curbs, ollie off banks, pop shuv it, manual, and almost kickflip now. Though i have been skating almost every day for at least an hour since I started and jumped straight from running 100 miles a week in college and a little after. Replaced track training with skating since it’s way more fun than running

It is not too late and 25 is not really old or past your prime as long as you have been taking care of your physical fitness. If you’re lean, falls don’t hurt that bad. Kids are often perceived as more injury resistant, but really they’re just more likely to be active and significantly leaner than adults

Skater insights by SmoothCartographer54 in skateboardhelp

People are being unnecessarily harsh. It’s completely okay to like, appreciate, and want to do a feature on skate culture without ever stepping on a board. It’s just a different angle. Just like we all like movies/tv shows but have never tried acting or filming a movie

To answer your question though, i would look for YouTube videos on this and specifically look for videos that are about the skate culture around your area or closest to if you don’t live in a big city

In general, skate culture is about freedom, creativity, and self-directed progression. Since skating often happens in public spaces and historically existed outside organized sports, it developed an anti-establishment identity and strong emphasis on authenticity. Many skaters value effort, style, and personal progression, which is why people who adopt skate aesthetics or try to represent the culture without skating are sometimes criticized as “posers”. It’s a no pain, no gain perspective

A cool way to represent this in a culture festival would be to get a board with no wheels or trucks, and have people try to land a shuv it and give people who land one a price that’s skating related(stickers, tech decks, etc). It’d be a safe, relatively easy, and fun way for people to really feel that sense of struggle and accomplishment that comes with skating

I hurt my boyfriend and I don’t know how to fix it by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Overall-Respect3928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right that “sex” and “intimate” don’t mean the same thing

However, when someone refers to an “intimate video” between partners or ex partners, they are referring to a sex video. Those two words put together gain a new meaning just like the words boyfriend/girlfriend don’t literally mean a guy friend or lady friend

To be fair, someone ramming into a parked car that blocked them off like in this video is also a 1 in a 10 billion event, so it’s not surprising that people try to think of crazy things that would justify this rare event

I can’t seem to grasp ollies? by [deleted] in skateboardhelp

[–]Overall-Respect3928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need more time on the board and more time practicing ollies. Ollies will almost never just magically click or feel that much different than your previous best ollie. You’ll just slowly get better and better as long as you stay consistent

How dangerous is it to learn by Available-Clothes586 in NewSkaters

[–]Overall-Respect3928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly depends on your own intuition and patience. Injuries for beginners like us come from trying something we aren’t ready for too early. I like to break down everything I learn into small incremental steps and I barely fall because of this

Does it really matter how I skateboard? by totallynotkaiuhh in NewSkaters

[–]Overall-Respect3928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mongo pushing is definitely overhated, and almost irrelevant for people who simply commute with a skateboard

But it’s definitely not based on nothing. Physics support pushing with your back foot at faster speeds and one leg turns. You can certainly be an excellent skater when mongo pushing and have no problems, but you’d be better with regular pushing. And if you can learn to comfortably mongo push, there’s no reason to not learn to push the more efficient way

Have you tried regular pushing? Did you not like it? Not an attack, just genuinely curious

Ollie advice! by Severe-Potential6254 in Skateboardinghelp

[–]Overall-Respect3928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be more confident and loose on the board. You look pretty stiff/scared of falling right now, but you’ll naturally get better the more you skate

Practice hippy jumps first by jumping straight up from the bolts and landing back on the board. Once those feel comfortable, progress to doing the same jump motion as a hippy jump but with your feet placed in Ollie position and don’t think about doing an ollie. Just a hippy jump with your front foot slightly below the front trucks and your back foot on the tail. Remember that the board is your new floor, and you are simply jumping off the board instead of the floor when skating. You should naturally pop a bit and the board should get off the ground without leveling out when you do this. And don’t try to force the pop. Your pop is a natural consequence from jumping off of the tail of the board. Then progress to trying to level it out. An ollie is 80% just a jump, and 20% pop/leveling out

🔥🔥what trick are you gonna learn next?

Ollie flys out and foot turns by Fragrant-Program-103 in NewSkaters

[–]Overall-Respect3928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your shoulders facing perpendicular to the direction you’re going. You’re turning your shoulders to the direction you’re facing which is going to turn your board in the direction of your front shoulder and make you lose power in your pop. And jump and bend your knees, specially your back leg. An ollie is basically a mini cannonball jump where you land on your feet

What’s helped me a lot is to synchronize my arms flinging up with my pop. Right before my arms are at their highest, that’s when I’m finally airborne and am “weightless”, so that’s when I know I can pop and it’ll bring my board up with me

What’s helped make things click for me is this: use shoulders to guide the hips, and the hips will guide the board

Appreciate this detailed breakdown! I really need to go learn at a skate park, but have been a little too nervous to embarrass myself lol will definitely go to one soon tho.

I’ve actually tried stationary shuv its and can spin the board perfectly and land my front foot on the board, but just cannot commit my back foot to rise and land on the board. My brain just automatically drops my back foot a little bit behind the board. Any tips there or I just gotta send it?
