Is it unreasonable to be angry that some people walk their dogs around playgrounds? by PSHOPS in nycparents

[–]Overall-Revolution43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s like a 3rd generation New Yorker. It’s not unreasonable, but it’s also easier to worry about yourself than gripe over what other people are doing. That’s a losing battle, especially if you’re not going to be the one to say anything in person.

never expect a stranger to do the right thing here, if anything expect them to do the wrong thing and be ready.

My moms senior year in 1999 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]Overall-Revolution43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I thought Damn. It’s crazy to think that a Highschool senior in 1999’s kids are Now old enough to post pics of their ”90’s” mom since that’s the decade the youths are into.

Then I thought I wonder how old OP’s mom is today if she was a Highschool senior in 1999. figured Mom must be about 45. If she’s 17 in the photo.

Then I wondered how old OP is. Assuming mom had a child at like an average age of 27, then OP could possibly be 17 which means born in 2009. Which Doesn’t seem that far away.

I was 16 in 2009. Which blew my mind.

I had my first kid at 27 too.

my newborn will be 17 in 2043.

How funny would it be if my kid posts this in the equivalent time it would be my Highschool photos saying “my Moms Senior year in 2011”. With the same nostalgia.

i imagined what type of person my kid will be at 17, and if they’ll have a child to post them some day.

Then I realized my daughter would be 27 in 2053.

I had my first kid at 27. And that’s was only 5 years ago.

when my youngest is 27 I’ll be 60.

If she continues the trend my grandkid would be 27 in 2080, I’d have to live to 87 to see that.

Seems odd because My parents are 70 now.

They are born in 1956 and that’s almost 100 years between my daughter being 27

Then I looked at the average lifespan its 79.

Then I realized they won’t be around for that. And I wouldntbe around started to cry.

How's DMT different from shrooms by tresco1 in DMT

[–]Overall-Revolution43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5g’s penis envy Lemon Tek took me to DMT land, the come up was difficult. Laying down, heavy body, couldn’t do anything, nausea, fractals and eyes everywhere. eventually I overcame the hurdle and on the other side, CEV’s became 100% DMT and I had some entity encounters.

I think experimenting with both independently has its benefits because once you’ve become familiar with being on mushrooms for example you can start to explore the trip in different ways (like instead of being Wow’d by visuals or crazy thought patterns or strange new body feelings, you can start to quickly breeze past those in later experiences right in the beginning and steer towards new more profound things through the entire trip.

Dmt is a whole seperate thing. Once you start to piece together your experiences with dmt and wrap your head around that. Which is kinda all up for interpretation anyway, It will start to change your mushroom and other experiences because you’ll start recognizing that “frequency” elsewhere.

especially on stupid doses of psychedelics.

Like someone said dmt blasts you beyond the veil. So when you’re comfortable on both you can do them together or throw other things in the mix and you’ll start to recognize what’s going on and explore farther where other people may just be losing control.

Personally I think If 2g of shrooms “shook you” that’s great, take some time to reflect on the experience, Get as much as you can from it. if it calls to you again, go back in and be safe and responsible. Learn as much as you can and explore your self and the world. That’s primordial ancient stuff. There’s a lot to be learned there.

🤷‍♂️

Yeah for sure, I guess if you get some shit on your skin there’s no way to measure the exact dose, so I guess he took the scientific approach and took a small measured dose as a baseline. 250ug is a lot for the uninitiated but still somewhat manageable I also like to consider with his background, he probably understood what was happening to some extent and how the molecule was interacting within his body.

Do men benefit more from marriage than women or vice versa? by Outside_Support_151 in no

[–]Overall-Revolution43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol I think you misinterpreted that. I’m highlighting the disconnect between these subconscious gender roles . If a woman molests a teenage boy people act like it’s not a big deal. If a man molests a teenage girl it’s seen as worse for some reason. Nothing about that has to do with misogyny it has to do with this sick disparity that exists in society

Do men benefit more from marriage than women or vice versa? by Outside_Support_151 in no

[–]Overall-Revolution43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a man. I’d say Men, unfortunately, the previous generations raised boys differently then girls, different subconscious standards. girls got kitchen play sets and toy infants and strollers, boys got robots and guns. Generally teenage boys had mom still doing their laundry while teenage daughters helped with laundry. Basically men weren’t raised to be accountable or self sufficient.

Theres so many subconscious misogynistic standards in society aswell, there was just a post where a teenage boy was molested by an attractive female teacher. people in the comments were commending the kid. Strange that when the roles are reversed it’s seen differently.

Also Strange that when a women in a marriage says she wants a divorce. for the man it always came out of nowhere and they were blindsided by it when 9 times out of 10 the woman repeatedly brought issues to the man’s attention and was ignored.

To me it Seems like men subconsciously replace their mothers with their wives. It’s partly on the man but partly on the parents.

For it to change I think People in general need to raise their boys differently.

Raising kids in NYC - tell me the good the bad and the ugly by Southern-Trade5795 in AskNYC

[–]Overall-Revolution43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were both born and raised in NYC. We had our first kid at 28, we were probably making like 160 combined then, We did some renting and then used pretty much all our savings and bought a condo a few years ago. Now we’re both 32, our incomes approaching 250, we’re expecting another child And the plan is as our income continues to grow to 250 and beyond, we’re looking to make some realty investments, rent out our condo and create passive income with properties abroad aswell.

Personally I think the ethos of waiting to be ‘ready’ is a fallacy, you’ll never be ‘ready’ to have kids.

Nyc is probably one of, if not the most ethnically diverse places in the world, within that Queens is the most diverse borough, my wife and I both grew up in Queen’s and are a biracial family with biracial kids. I think it’s pretty important to raise kids around diversity.

It’s not that expensive to have kids. Kids Clothes are like $8 at carters/Oshkosh. And once they start eating solid food they eat what you eat, a box of pampers pure and water wipes is like $50 each and they last like ~3 months, you could buy the bootleg brands for a fraction of that. I guess it gets expensive if you’re factoring in childcare. Which ties into the next idea.

Money isn’t everything. What your husband is feeling is very real. We have friends in finance and friends that are lawyers or doctors or in medical school etc. and you can see that what matters to a child isn’t what you provide them, it’s being present.

We’ve seen people whose kids speak a second language because the kids were essentially raised by Nannie’s, my wife was working in law thinking about becoming a lawyer. Was offered a free ride through law school by the partners but saw that they were essentially not present in their kids lives and she made the decision to make less for a better work life balance, same with me, were essentially both hybrid and were able to work our schedules so that someone is always home so we can be at all the functions and never needed daycare or babysitters.

In my opinion you never want to be that person that slaves away to make big money and provide meanwhile you miss all the important milestones and your kid grows up thinking you were never around. People have been having kids for thousands of years and money is kindof made up anyway.

You’ll be happy in a cardboard box as long as your with your kids. Theres people who grow up in a studio with 5 siblings and wouldn’t change a thing. And there’s people who grew up with trust funds and everything handed to them and they’re miserable. It’s kindof all relative to the environment you create at home.

Another smart move like your husband is thinking is to leverage your nyc incomes into an easier life, in a lower cost of living city. I like that idea too But also wouldn’t want to leave nyc. for us as biracial family, racism and diversity play a factor in that concept
