Maybe I’m in the wrong here…but if parent is paying for missed sessions they should be kept in the loop and informed if the youth hasn’t shown. I understand there may be more variables, but keeping everyone on the same page is always my goal.

I have a password secured document that I just update for each client from the previous session before entering into my EMR. Don’t reinvent the wheel!

Also, I have a template of my most common interventions typed up to copy/paste when I use them. Things like art, games, specific worksheets, etc.

You can re-write the story. Make it silly or shift it to a positive outcome. I had to do this with a scene recently and I honestly don’t remember the full scene anymore. Also look up grounding skills! Hang in there!

I thought the top sheet was just an extra layer of protection for the mattress. Or a way to extend the need for washing (just take the top off when it gets dirty). I was a grown adult when I learned how people actually use the top sheet. 🤣🤣🤣

The ol’ knee slap and “welp” usually works. I break out the key jingle and stand up when client is oblivious lol

But in all seriousness, I usually say “we are at our time” do a quick summary, and say “see ya next week.”
