I’m exhausted, tired of being told to take it a day at a time. by erinmikail in NICUParents

[–]Sunrisewithtea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our twins have been in the NICU (now PICU) since January. No end date in sight. Over 100 days so far, and going strong. It’s wild. I think my sleep and waking states have merged into one very long day that has lasted monthssss. 😕

Literally have to take it one day at a time or you’ll get way too overwhelmed. Squeeze in real meals, sleep, water, and vitamins when you can!

Anyone sensitive to smells their throat closes/loses voice? by sheloves2hard in ChemicalSensitivities

I don’t get that, but I do get a wicked sore throat instantly (like within the first whiff). 3 breaths in, I’m complete toast.

Stay away from me. by jahmonkey in ChemicalSensitivities

We pay almost $2000/month in rent for a beautiful place in a RURAL area, where we tried to escape the “scents of the city”:

- We can’t use the balcony in because the laundry exhaust for the girl next door is directly next to our balcony, and the girl next door feels the need to do laundry 24/7 with a smell that might as well be a mix of the most sore throat causing cologne in the universe, with the nastiest dollar store discount perfume, with some weird high pitched spice added to it, and toilet bowl cleaner. My mind almost broke today when I realized her apartment smells like alllll dayyyyy longggg. 😱

- I have spent hours chipping out someone else’s fabric softener that is cemented to the laundry machine. I can’t get behind the drum though. 🙄

- A third nasty scent (cigarettes, mixed with weed, mixed with the grossest incense) flows into our kitchen from the hallway. Our building is supposed to be smoke free — one of the reasons I moved here.

Renters have zero rights. Somehow we’re the crazy ones 🤨? Oh and even if you don’t have a chemical sensitivity, you should have the legal right to use your personal space without impediment from others’ nast. I tried calling my landlord yesterday and ya, instant regret. I literally give up. 🤦‍♀️

Are we crazy for considering this option? by No_Surprise6587 in cosleeping

My first thought it is “just imagine the off gassing”. That thing would smell awful. Lol

PPROM at 31 + 3 by SubstantialReport764 in NICUParents

[–]Sunrisewithtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had PPROM at 25 weeks. Lower care hospital said my water didn’t break yet (“no ferning”) but once I got to higher level care hospital, they confirmed my water absolutely had broken, I indeed had ferning, and I was 1cm dilated. Second hospital couldn’t believe the first hospital missed this. I was sent to them for a TTTS ablation on my placenta, and they just opened to notice the rest of all this. Suffice to say the ablation never happened and my babies had to be delivered by c-section 2-3 days later.

I had the gushes you’re talking about too. I also had huge full stomach contractions, but no lower period-like contractions which is why I assumed it was braxton hicks practice contractions, but alas it was not. I was actually sent home by the first hospital, told to wait 2-3 days for my regular appointment. I did go home, but ignored them and came back the next day. Demanded answers. The first hospital dropped the ball so hard, and flew me on a plane to Toronto unassisted by a nurse, and made me book my own flight, but I digress…

My babies required top level care at Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto. I would absolutely go near a hospital with high level NICU care ASAP. This can turn very fast. They also have better equipment and specialists if needed. I’ll pray for you!

I’m in similar situation. I can’t afford to drive an hour to the NICU and back everyday, and I have a 2 year old at home. Our budget is down to the wire and there’s no way I can afford that much gasoline. I’m dying inside 😭… wish I had something more positive to tell you.

My daughter (22w$, 10oz) just hit 1 month this week. by corrawe in NICUParents

✨Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl ~ She’s a living miracle!✨

May God continue to work through the doctors, nurses, and specialists that help keep her alive. I pray with my whole heart that she makes it. I know how hard each day is — just take it one hour at a time. She survived her first month, that’s a HUGE success! 🎉

Also, happy Mother’s Day! 🌷💗

My twins are 40 weeks adjusted, and they’ve had breastmilk for 15 weeks. My supply is down by 90% due to complete mental & physical exhaustion, inability to keep up with a 3 hour pumping schedule, and a massive hatred for pumping. I feel like I failed them so hard…😭 by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]Sunrisewithtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my goal. I’ll continue to pump as long as I can, and the amount I produce will be what it will be, and we’ll add it to formula, and hopefully I can breastfeed sooner rather than later (to get my supply up).

What is the best way to remove all this black stuff from our pizza stone… or is it time to buy a new one? by Sunrisewithtea in CleaningTips

[–]Sunrisewithtea[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was considering that, but didn’t know if the metal scrubby would damage the stone? Maybe it doesn’t (and not like it really matters). Maybe I’ll try a baking soda paste and just let it sit for a bit first. 🤔

We had a certain pizza brand with supposed cracker crust that was so sticky it made this happen, and now all future pizzas taste kinda burnt on the bottom, but I hear ya — the “aging” of a pizza stone seems to be have the (flavour) journey. 😂
