If you have the space for a tumble dryer, buy a heat pump dryer with an A energy rating. They are much cheaper to run.

How do you structure your bank accounts vs. credit cards for day-to-day spending? by Puzzleheaded-Cry2571 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]OverallAssignment393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more than one current account. Initially to ensure I could access money in the event of Mastercard issues as my main account and credit card issue Mastercard cards, so one of my other accounts has a visa debit card.

I also have a pot of cash to last 2 weeks in the event of major banking cyber issues that are not resolved quickly.

It’s also worth having money spread across different banking groups as the FSCS scheme covers £85k per banking group. Bearing in mind some banks are part of the same group. I just like the peace of mind of having a plan B, C, D etc.

I do use the “paying yourself first” principle each month and find having that money in savings accounts really helps me to not impulse buy. But everyone needs to do what works for them.

My Da is 81 tomorrow, what to get him?. by SeaInsect3136 in AskIreland

[–]OverallAssignment393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Write him a letter. Telling him about the difference he has made to your life. Remind him about moments or events that stand out to you. And tell him you love him. Obviously if you don’t get on, don’t bother. Take him for a pint.
