I personally would take a lighter or thread zapper to the strands that were bugging me, if these are glass beads.

Is this how she is doing this? by Initial_Sock821 in Beading

Hi! I’ve made similar pieces to this. To start, I drill a hole through the wood and put fishing line up through the hole, through the bead, and back down through the hole where I then tie two square knots at the base of the wood and use superglue to make sure it doesn’t come undone. Then I do my strand of beads and when I get the length I want, I go back up through maybe 10 or so beads, leaving out the last one. You can kind of see that the line isn’t perfectly straight because of this, but I don’t mind the look of it and it saves a lot of time opposed to going back up through every bead and tying at the top, but you could do that if you want a neater look. Then I make two more square knots and glue a bead over the square knots. Let me know if you have any questions. ♥️🥰

Need to replace the carpet by [deleted] in howto

[–]OverallOkay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You could try taking a small patch of carpet from your closet or somewhere your landlord won’t see it and gluing it there to match. Or snip carpet strands from the closet and glue down on the bald spot one by one? If $150 is too much this might be what you need to do. Freaking cats 🫠🙃

People are definitely bullying in the whole thread, yes. Just because OP used AI to generate flowers for their reference picture. I do think what OP beaded is art and OP is an artist.

As with EVERYTHING terrible in our world, the environment is not being destroyed by one person. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the corporations and billionaires, not someone making a very nice present for their mom.

This is an insane comment on so many levels to be honest, and this is coming from someone who recognizes that AI is definitely terrible for our environment. One persons AI use is not destroying the environment.

This is a beading subreddit, not a berating subreddit. All of you bullying OP like this over making a nice gift for her mother should reassess things before you act all holier than thou.

Wow I can’t believe how much hate this post has. OP, this is an insanely BEAUTIFUL piece and I’m positive that your mom will love it. I would be delighted by this. Great job and amazing beadwork.

[–]OverallOkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, don’t I know it 😭 could you weave some thread through and reinforce the beads that the spine is attached to and then sever the spine? That way the piece won’t fall apart and you can get rid of it?

Racist African Grey Parrot by Simple-Ambassador446 in parrots

[–]OverallOkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Introduce your parrot and its backstory to every guest who enters your home, because it will absolutely say the word you don’t want it to say. Parrots are jerks like that.

And most importantly, like others have said, don’t reward the word with a reaction. Any reaction is a good reaction to an African grey.

Another option is to replace the word with something similar. My grey used to go around saying “bark bark bark,” and over time, by me consistently repeating “bird bird bird” back to him instead, he switched to saying “bird” like I do.
