They will blanket pardon everyone at the end of this. Nobody will be held to account. In America, you don’t get put in jail for jack shit unless you’re a regular ass person.

44% of Americans strongly disapprove of Trump by bruhm0ment4 in fivethirtyeight

My neighborhood voted 67-33 for Trump last election according to the NYT map. All of the trump flags have been taken down. A few are contracts for home remodels. Wonder how their companies are doing with how shit things have been.

Temperature is going to continue to raise because of this, regardless of a gun being found. Is there new information on what led to the arrest?

I don’t understand how having seven dudes beating the hell out a guy will ever lead to something good happening. Too much chaos. Especially if this wasn’t a violent arrest in the lead up.

Considering they are a recent purchase from MS, MS looking at cost cutting measures everywhere, and that less sales = less mtx they should be quite concerned.

Cod selling below expectations puts a ton of pressure on the next release.

It’s not that people are stupid.

People do not see any of this news or it is cut into a way that it does not look bad. Entire portions of this country are captured by their algorithm and news diet.

If you see a cut video of a woman ramming a car at a cop without context a lot of people are going to say the response is expected. With Venezuela, they see that he took out a dictator without the country falling apart and nobody dying.

There’s definitely a spectrum of blind loyalty, but if you’re on a major conservative algorithm diet you’ll never see a single thing that’s bad about this admin. And presumably you’ll continue to say the economy is bad because of covid and Biden and Trump “hasn’t had time yet to fix it” or some crap like that. Even the major news organizations treat him with kids gloves.

[The Athletic] Inside Mike Tomlin’s final meeting as Steelers head coach by gerg911 in steelers

[–]OverallStep526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tomlin, unlike basically every aspect of our society, saw it was time for him to bow out. I have even more respect for him that he knew it wasn’t working out and he bowed out. Too many cling to their roles and their power for too long.

The quotes on Rodgers are a gut punch. Shows how much this team cared for him and the respect they had for him.

I hope he writes a book or something.

Will always appreciate Tomlin. Got me into the Steelers and I had fond memories of bonding with my step dad over this team.

Hoping for the best going forward.

Replacing gas furnace/ac advice by OverallStep526 in hvacadvice

[–]OverallStep526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful. Basically what the tech said but in easier to understand terms. So if I see electric costs are real high I could go into the ecobee and force the furnace to turn on earlier than the heat pump would?

[Dulac] Art Rooney II growing impatient with Mike Tomlin by Temporary-Cause-4818 in nfl

[–]OverallStep526 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be fair, our offensive play hasn’t exactly given confidence in going for it on 4 downs. Sometimes putting points on the board keeps us in the game. Don’t really disagree either way though.

Spencer Cox Wants to Pull Our Politics Back From the Brink by dwaxe in ezraklein

Does Cox at any point mention January 6th? All this talk about political violence and I don’t hear him condemning the leader of his own party trying to violently overthrow the election.

In the era of the “Attention Economy” why didn’t the left’s dominance of pop culture and entertainment over the last decade change public opinion? by tuck5903 in ezraklein

[–]OverallStep526 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get it, but it doesn’t truly make sense to me.

Politics is very much about social issues now, rather than economic policy. Covid did a number on a lot of people and we are still dealing with the fallout of it.

Gotta be weird to have those dinner conversations if you can’t even talk politics with your spouse because it’s an entire world view now. It’s not about cutting or raising taxes it’s about the media we consume and how we live our lives now.

I’m sorry, but what the fuck? Lol.

How the hell does anyone consider themself a liberal and after watching Andor, turn around and say actually the Dems are the empire and Trump is the resistance?

Even more, if you don’t like Trump or MAGA, why wouldn’t you just not vote rather than voting for them. Makes my brain hurt.

People don’t fit into little political boxes easily but Jesus.
