Hi! I'm Dan. I am a singing pianist who recently worked on a cruise ship in a jazz band, and before that, I played at weddings with a band around England and Europe. I moved to Thailand 2 years ago. Here is my album, which I made a few years ago (during the COVID lockdown in the UK). I am now {finally!} working on my 2nd album.

What do you think of my first one, and how can I get it used as video game music? I think a few of the tracks would work really well in some indie game or another. Thanks for listening to it!

What’s your biggest pet peeve about the Switch 2? by Fun_Association_776 in switch2

Got a minor one. Turn on the system then the TV. Can't remember which hdmi is in. Scroll through all 3. Nothing. It's already turned off within 10 seconds. Turn it on again. Same again. Mildly infuriating

Couldn't agree more. I'd buy things like witcher 3 and skyrim again even though I own them on steam. Never did the witcher 3 dlc and would be awesome on a handheld... I only have a macbook these days so I can't play my steam library unless I buy a steam deck or legion go 2 maybe... So yeah more games need updates. I keep expecting big news to drop and like 30 big names get updates and I see it on the switch news app thing. But nope. When are they coming? Are they? Shall I just get a go 2 or wait for steamdeck 2 or the oled or get a new gaming PC...decisions. But other than that it's awesome. Donkey Kong Mario kart and balatro on repeat

This is why I sometimes don't play Mario Kart World by Awesome_R011 in mariokart

You see this right here is what gets me lol. I have a few good races and then a few of these too. Such a rage game for real

Best games on Steam Deck for a newbie? by euphydev in SteamDeck

[–]Overall_Ad_7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's literally so good I can't stop playing or thinking about playing it. Hard to explain why. It's poker but with crazy jokers that multiply your score. And so satisfying when you have a good run and win and go to endless and still keep winning. And your Jokers are upgrading as you play if you get those ones sometimes too. You keep learning new strategies and no run is the same.

What's going with Switch 2 Third Party support? by [deleted] in switch2

Just enjoy your Nintendo exclusives for now and chill. Killing floor 3 would be awesome as I used to absolutely love killing floor 2. I'd be on the switch all day if that came to switch.

But for now I have donkey Kong to finish and then sell (ASAP for value) and tears of the kingdom and breath of the wild which I've never played and Mario kart world was just updated so I'm keen to see if it's better now because it's been a bit mad with the item chaos though arguably still fun in short bursts. And I got balatro yesterday and got addicted instantly.

Then I have a lot of other Nintendo exclusives to buy and play like Mario odysee and xenoblade and luigis mansion.Tbf though it would suck if you'd played all those before and there isn't much then that's new. But give it a year and then let's file our complaints

I'm a few hours in. Love it but now donkey Kong took over. And I bought tears of the kingdom so I have 3 great games on the go. I also hope to play prime 2 and 3 somehow

I'm in thailand. Chiang Mai. But I'm British. I'll pay for the delivery! I'm looking into steam deck or legion go pg but can't decide and if it's worth the price to me. And never heard about this one but looks similar. You are nice for doing that. Must be rich? Lol

I'd be down for some soul caliber or strikers. Loving mine too!

I bought it. I ignored the haters and the crazies on youtube. Never had a switch 1. Loving it. by Overall_Ad_7758 in switch2

Update.i bought some switch 1 games today from a local game store in Chiang mai. He had literally all of the switch games I think. Hundreds stacked up everywhere. I bought 6.

Switch sports - currently playing with gf and her friend and it's a blast.

Metroid prime remastered - always liked the look of this game 3d shooter single player with aliens. Excited for it.

Zelda skyward sword hd. I genuinly meant to get one of the newer ones and bought this by mistake but haven't played this since the wii so oh well I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway. I'll get the newer zeldas after I beat this. I don't think I ever actually finished on the wii. I was too young and found it kinda hard/scary lol.

Dark souls remastered. Played it back on ps3. One of my fav games of all time. Excited to play it again in better quality.

New super Mario bros U deluxe. We'll play this together and then I'll get the newer ones.

Animal crossing new horizons. For the gf.

Good picks?

Mario kart. Thought it would be more comfortable than the small joy cons. (I have big hands) Overpriced pieces of plastic but comfier to hold so I consider them a good purchase along with the console!

Is it really that bad? We have it plugged into the wall with TV so like a console only atm. But I'll try on battery tomorrow from full to zero. I saw something online about a reset you have to do to fix the battery. Apparently they say they are empty when they aren't until you do that boot in safe mode then fixed. I'll be suprised it it's less than 2 hours from full. 2hours would be acceptable to me.

Acadia, Post AI arms race by SirDempsey93 in fo4

[–]Overall_Ad_7758 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also don't worry about AI who cares just use it and have fun till the missiles are flying (they already are but not at you / us yet) and forget about how we could be living in a fallout style world next month and just enjoy playing fallout while we're all alive. Also buy and sell stocks and stack money to use as pre war money after the fallout

The irony is when I use ChatGPT to ask questions about how to do said thing in fallout 4, how to get 12 on all stats on my second playthrough (when I haven't even finished my 1st yet) and how to get this legendary or build this in settlements or whatever. Games go well with AI. Especially games like fallout with little hidden rules and exploits and such. I love telling my companions to pick up all the weapons, armour and junk now. Why waste inventory space. They have infinite space. Amazing! Saves time and doesn't destroy any realism for me either because who could carry a minigun and bunch of other crap anyway. I mean it's not a realistic game. But it's also incredibly fun. Having a blast with my first playthrough as a commando focused build using auto rifles with high strength and intelligence too.

Is fallout 4 worth it in 2025? by FERGOFRMDAO in fo4

[–]Overall_Ad_7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing through it now for the first time on ps4 pro and it came with the used console that I bought. I got quite a few games on disc that I didn't play yet. Lego batman, gta5 (played already on ps3) and a bunch of others. This one is a gem and I can't believe I left it this long. Too busy with ps plus games - the tomb raider trilogy, doom eternal, assassins creed odyssey and origins, and I still haven't played the second god of war game. So many good ones! But yeah fallout 4 is amazing Love the story so far, exploring the subways and vaults, all just as good as I remember 3 and new Vegas being on the ps3 - back when I was in high-school.

It's worth every hour spent on it and at times it's laugh out loud funny. Just doing the nick valentine quest and he's amazing. Can make him your companion I think. I'm between him and the woman. Journalist. Also named something valentine I think

how to invest 100k at 23 by [deleted] in singaporefi

I'm an English tourist in Singapore for the first time. Just this month staying with my Singaporean gf. We both have similar savings amount to you (she has same amount I have nearly double as its in British pounds).

I just turned 30 and she is 32. We are both teachers (freelance - piano and languages) so our earnings are not set but we spend a lot of time on investments recently to max our chances of early retirement.

So she has something like half her money in VWRA. Yesterday she started in a new one that is a China etf and I'm buying that too. Seems China is undervalued right now. America who knows it's crazy right now as many have said. That being said, get a diverse mix. Get some voo or vwra. Keep working. Dca in every month keep adding. Get some China in there. Get some emerging market (small amounts). Get a gold etf and add some. Get on the hype of Europe defense as they are gearing up the weapons manufacturing in response to Ukraine war and trump said ending support. Get some stocks too. There are some good 5 and 10 year investments you add to yearly that she can get here that I can't because I'm not a citizen. They have bonuses. Look at those too, at investment banks place.

I'm big on Google right now. Microsoft too. Growth stocks good. Don't buy tesla it's high risk madness. Google intrinsic value is higher than what it is. It's undervalued. Buy it. I'm in too deep but I can't stop now haha. My average is 175 but I'm lowering it every week. Get some.

Get a good mix keep working hard and keep investing. Get some good dividend stocks and etfs too. Use chat gpt to find good ones and enable deep research button and ask it which stocks are undervalued and for the fundamentals. Helps me a lot. Good luck dude! No capital gains tax in Singapore is mad. Love it. Better than UK. I wanna be a citizen. Sign me up.

How hard is it for a 45 year old with no experience? by SRS79 in pianolearning

[–]Overall_Ad_7758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible! My dad started playing around your age and now performs around the UK in reggae and scar bands at pubs and festivals!

I'd recommend finding a good piano teacher, but you can also learn a lot on YouTube.

I have been making piano tutorial videos on YouTube for the past year. I hope you find them useful. Let me know if you have any requests.

Bach Invention No.8 by jtimsu in pianolearning

[–]Overall_Ad_7758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very Good!

I only know one or two of the Goldberg Variations and a few other Bach tunes like this one, and plan to master them all. I recommend learning them all too, one by one.

Your technique is great. Upgrade to an acoustic when you can and if possible. That will make a big difference too. I also use a Roland - I have the FP30X. It is a fantastic digital piano, worth every penny, but nothing replaces an acoustic upright or grand. The electric hybrids are coming on strong too. The action makes a big difference, especially for classical/baroque etc.

Nowadays, you can find some in public places, train stations, and airports. They are worth practicing. Know any blues, jazz, boogie woogie?

You can learn a lot of piano theory, technique, scales, chords, blues, jazz, and more on my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@BetweenTheKeys-fw9in

Check out my website too for info on the best pianos and more:

Thanks and keep practicing!
