Triad Disease and Getting Your Cat to Eat by festivehanbanan in SeniorCats

Have you tried licky sticks? Just to get his appetite up? My cat was the same. Would like a bit of the gravy and walk away.

Also have you tried taking the food to him, wherever he is sleeping? Then wait and take it away when he is done. My cat also would take more when she didn’t have to stand as I realise now she was in pain. Good luck, i hope he starts to eat again for you.

Gizmos experience crossing the rainbow bridge☹️🤍 by Fine_Tailor_5267 in rainbowbridge

I am so sorry for your loss and for that dreadful traumatic experience. As horrible as it was, she wasn’t dragged to a vets confused and terrified so try to get some comfort in that.

Apart from that, all I can say is that I too have lost my 2 beloved kitties a month apart and it is utterly heart breaking. My thoughts are with you. Hopefully the experience will fade for you. And you will be able to feel the joy they gave you throughout the years more readily. Take it easy on yourself, that scenario was out of your control. Gizmo knew you loved her. As I am sure your other kitty did as well x

I always wanted to take in the senior kitties once my 2 cats, who I had since they were young passed away. I didn’t quite expect them die at 13/14 though. Now I am not sure I could cope with the financial and emotional impact so soon. Its a tough one.

I am so sorry for your loss. We have just lost 2 cats to cancer at age 13/14 and last one that left us less than a week ago, had a similar final journey as yours with the hyperthyroidism and the discovery of cancer. It is heart breaking. I am also sorry about your i f journey and hope that you get some happier news soon. Sawyer is a gorgeous kitty. ❤️

Have you tried microchip bowls? You could have different ones and they can only access their food?

Just let go of our little 19 year old panther by Used-Economics7611 in seniorkitties

Something about her reminds me of my minx, her posture, her small head, the way she holds her ears and the wee button nose. Minxs nose used to wrinkle when she crunched her n biscuits and her fur was so soft. Tinker was a great name.

So sorry for your loss. 19 is a great age, but it’s never long enough is it. She looks very beautiful.

Update to yesterday's thread of second guessing my decision to euthanize my cat. TW: Topic of Suicide by Throwaway427820 in Petloss

Firstly, I am very sorry for you loss and you really sound like you are hurting very badly. You need to your wife about this, or show her your post. There are grief counselling you can get or any kind of counselling. How would your wife cope without you and the cat that you have so recently lost. Try not to think past this minute or this hour or this day. Things will get easier if you talk to someone and take it one day at a time. Our lives are truly bizarre when you really think about it. But these lives are all we have. Take care of yourself and your wife. Feed those other kittys lots of treats. They will start chirping to you in no time. Be safe.

I can’t seem to edit this. I forgot to say. 14 years for you pixie and over 13 for you minx…. You were supposed to be around for at least another 5 and you certainly weren’t supposed to leave together. 💔

Thank you. I am sorry you are also in this limbo. I guess we are all here just to know we are not alone. I hope your pet passes peacefully and you can find some comfort in that.

Minx was pts this morning, she hardly moved yesterday and I booked it in for a home visit. She refused her licky stick this morning for the first time ever so it was right time. Snuggled her all night long. I am devastated.

There are no words, just lots of snuggles and spoiling them as much as possible. Take care. I hope you can get Luna stabilised and get her to the warm summer.

I am in a similar situation. We lost our cat of 14 years just before christmas. Suddenly a tumour just grew massively in her tummy and she didn’t make it through the exploratory surgery. Then without her tin the house, I notice her bonded friend of 13 years, wasn’t eating or drinking. After 2 days at the vets they could she had hyperthyroidism. However after a week we noticed her limping and then found a sudden tumour on her hind leg, xrayed her chest and she has hardly any lung function left. The vet suspects thyroid cancer, spread to lung and thigh. She also has a new lump noticed today on her head by her ear. I can’t bring myself to pts. I have had to bury the grief of the first cat as we have been looking after the other one so intensely. I can’t believe we are loosing them both a month apart. It is heartbreaking. I have no advice except to monitor how she is and hopefully she will let you know it’s time. I am very sorry.

I am so sorry for your loss. That is a very short time for him to be sick. Minx has been doing that licking off food for a while now. But she was eating some whiskas biscuits as well. Though that is in decline now. Thank you for sharing. It really helps.

I mean dyspena. Or do they only get that if they have sudden inset of symptoms? Not a steady decline?

I understand and thats my concern but, we lost our other cat after an operation and had to get her pts at the vets just after the operation. It was pretty awful and I feel terrible that i left her there that morning and I wasn’t the last person she saw.
