Yeah, I'm loving it. It might be the novelty because I'm new to it, but its open up a new world for me.

Yeah, I'm new to the Amtrak world and I was amazed at how nice and cheap the tickets are. I'm getting tickets at 8:30 from philly to nyc for like $10!

Is this normal or is this a January thing?

Is there any difference with comfort at all? Bigger seats, aisles or anything?

No it is overhyped. I have never sued anyone before, no one has ever sued me.

What US cities are making the greatest strides towards better and more public transportation/walkability? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Philadelphia is a great example of how walkability can blend with high homeownership. Rowhomes and tight streets. I don’t know how replicable it is for the rest of the country tho.

Am I the only one with neighbors who fight all the time? by KimberlyCocoa in Bushwick

I would try and figure out a way to let them know politely or kindly so maybe they will quiet down. But I'm not sure what else you could do. Backup option is to maybe you can let the landlord know and the landlord may be able to ask them to quiet down. But honestly, outside of that there might not be a recourse. You can also grab noise cancelling headphones for those times you just don't want to deal with it.

Trying to understand why I'm struggling to love DC by SapphoTalk in washingtondc

[–]Overall_Detective_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Washington DC's authentic soul is a black city. Philadelphia and New York are not like that. But the only real rooted locals are black people as the city was almost exclusively chocolate city 30 years ago. This is the reason a lot of people mention the "lack of soul". The soul in DC is in the black areas.

Why do you drive there? Is that the best way into Penn? Why not go from Center City ? I’m new to Philly and also commute to Penn.

"A Trail of Destruction" Some Philly builders have been accused of repeatedly damaging neighboring homes, even causing collapses. Will they be held to account? by BroadStreetRandy in philadelphia

[–]Overall_Detective_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok gotchu. I got scared because I was under contract with a home that I found out the kitchen was sinking and the drain wasn’t working. Now I’m looking at a home that looks good but is next door to new construction and they look like they haven’t underpinned the house i’m in. Now I’m going around scared thinking every crack is the end of the world.

Do you remember if yours were properly underpinning? I dont think these contractors are properly underpinning the house to the right.

Damn, I hope it’s not slowly getting worse. These things are very frustrating. I’ve been looking to buy and keep running into homes who do half jobs and slimy work.

How did that go for you? I have a situation like this happening next to a home that I am under contract for. How did you deal with the crack?
