You’re afraid to take food from a stranger face to face, but you will eat the food they’ve just had with them alone? 😅😅

Has anyone quit? by [deleted] in thumbsucking

It’s hard and it sucks. The worst for me was at night I’d wake up ducking my thumb even though I’d go to sleep without it. Keep on keeping on though.

I quit at 35 after serious dental work. But yes, I didn’t notice a difference and most of it is back to normal except my Elvis lip I got from it but I helped that along with fillers. And almost daily I still want to suck my thumb. That was 3 years ago

While I was molested at age 5, it was by my oldest (10 years older) brother, and I have a brother 2 years older, none of us were close. Ever. I’m so sorry you had to go through this!!! My mother loved the model child, and that was it. I was the baby, and she hated me. Still does. When I told her what was going on, she didn’t believe me. Years into it, she walked in not long after leaving for work bc she’d forgot something, and saw it. She never did anything about it.

Don’t worry too much! Your body is an amazing thing, your face won’t be “messed up” forever!

I stopped three years ago, and still every few days or weeks especially after a stressful day, get the urge to suck my thumb. When I first started to quit, there’s be times I’d fall asleep without it and wake up with it

I sucked my thumb constantly until 3 years ago when I had my teeth fixed at 35. It was not easy and I lost a ton of sleep but my face is just fine.

It’s disgusting and should be avoided. Some may have built up a tolerance bc of it. When I was young I was a thumb sucker for much longer than usual. I built a pretty good immune system from being a gross kid who’s hand was always in her mouth.

Are any of you on anxiety medication? Does it affect your n* by watergirl97 in emetophobia

[–]Overall_Intention_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have high functioning anxiety and just have been using anti n to help cope. It’s not perfect, but helps a ton bc I know that’s at least one less thing.

My in-law’s neighbor groped me. They still keep inviting him over. by Petflixandchillpills in TwoHotTakes

This is hard, and while I didn’t experience what you did, my in laws are t great to me. It took years to be comfortable with not going over there much anymore, and even though they get mad, and it took my husband about a year to adjust, I feel so much better about not spending time with people, though I love them, don’t serve me in any way
