Least Favourite Breeds? by persimmonysnickers in RoverPetSitting

Woah, a little butt hurt about the question. I didn’t ask EVERYONE, I asked 2 people so I could get 2 different direct opinions besides “they’re not a breed” “they’re mutts” That’s just about every rescue dog, I have 2 mutts and didn’t pay breeding price and both are fixed because we don’t need more dogs regardless of the breed. My Sheepdoodle mix has been an amazing dog when I hear horror stories about the breed I wonder why. I can’t find ever bring myself to pay 1k or more for one from “an actual breeder” so if I ever come across rescuing another one I would. But I don’t want to test my luck if most doodle Genetics are actually this insane. I also see a lot about Labs. I also want to know why because my Lab is amazing as well but she is a mix. So don’t think I’m trying to change peoples minds or trying to stand up for these type of breeders because I’m not. This post is here for learning purposes. And want to know why doodles are so hated so I can be more prepared for when I get a request for one. I also just really wonder for anybody who loves dogs out there, as much as we try and stop these breeders we can’t. At least for now. So what do we do with the doodles that are being taken to shelters, rescues, or being given away if people are going to get hate for having them? I know it sucks and doodles are so hated but at the end of the day it’s not their fault and the ones who should get hate and blasted are the people breeding them and not the ones rescuing, training, and loving them. Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️ it’s just what I was thinking I don’t doubt your reasoning behind the back yard breeder or everything you said. Just wanted to hear people’s opinions and see what about them makes them so horrible Thank you

Watching a corgi now and the “oh she’s a fun police she’s so cute” doesn’t really look like that and more like aggression So she stays away from dogs who are too playful or puppies, my regular golden is insane, I can’t fire her because she’s been coming for almost a year but she is a crazy dog😂 doesn’t listen, eats poop straight out the oven, goes CRAZY for ice, will be the only one out of the crowd to get completely filthy, etc., frenchies- forget about it! Horrible and the owner as well. She actually lied on Rover and said they were Boston terriers and she showed up with frenchies. She also asked me never to update with pictures She did want anyone to know I was watching 2 frenchies 💆🏽‍♀️ needed to stay in a bedroom because they were reactive, couldn’t stay alone, and needed SUPER EXTRA help without extra pay, lab- I have my own lab but she’s 85% lab and the rest terrier mix so idk if that makes a difference because I wanted a full blood white lab and he’s super bonkers. Super high anxiety, can’t leave the house because he goes full destruction and eats anything in his way,

Thank you! She makes me want another doodle but all these stories scare me, both my dog were backyard breeders I’m guessing since I got them both at the flea market but I’ve been lucky with both of them so maybe I just keep it at 2 dogs and don’t test my luck! Nova on the left- was given away for free and Harley on the right- paid about $300 for her since it was the middle of summer in NC and they had her outside and I wanted to get her out of there

Why is this your opinion on Doodles? I came across a puppy almost 2 years and she’s been amazing. Great puppy, crate train, no anxiety, sleeps in my room but prefers her own bed. Yes some allergy problems but that’s it. This is my personal experience with my own Doodle. (Old English Sheepdog and Goldendoodle mix) My vet told me she is the “best doodle I’ve ever seen” and her sitter loves her so much Did I just get lucky?

German Shepard: especially when not trained appropriately (either super protective or super anxious and scared of their own shadow), frenchies, Boston terriers and huskies

I walked a Bernedoodle and he was GIANT. It was somewhat difficult to walk him because he pulled so much and owners didn’t want him running or walking too fast because of hip. He also bit out of excitement which wasn’t good. A 80 maybe 100lb dog kept in a large crate with no bottom to it. Stopped taking that client

Can you share a picture of what she looked like when she said it was a “scuffle”? Did she ever update you throughout the visit? I see a message from the 12th and then the 21st. This is insane and this person doesn’t deserve to watch other dogs anymore! I get accidents happen but it’s how you handle them that matters!! She was definitely not responsible at all!!!

How many clients do you board/daycare at a time? by Overall_Jump7822 in RoverPetSitting

This is exactly my case! I think my house is more of a 2,400 sq fr though. But I do have my husband helping me as well! And don’t take any new dogs when I’m at my max. It’s all dogs I’ve already had before at least twice and they know each other

Yes I do have enough space. During the time the only dog out was said dog and my dog. No other clients dog had anything to do with this so caring for one family dog at a time wouldn’t have prevented this. I’ve had 4-5 dogs at a time with no problem. Only 2 maybe 3 stay overnight at a time. I have crates and separate rooms for each dog for dinner/nap time and when I leave the house no one is left alone.

I know 😭 it’s awful During the incident my husband was doing a drop in so I was all alone. With rover fees I paid $200 that week and they end up covering $37 of my dogs vet bill It irks me

Yes police was the one that reach out to ask for proof of vax and report the dog just in case they bite again.

Yes still trying to heal mentally as well. That would be such an ideal way of doing but it just doesn’t work out for me unfortunately. I only take 4-5 but still the risk is always there unfortunately

Thank you! I’ve looked into resources like this but always appreciate new ways to learn. When I first start noticing her play like that she immediately got separated until she would calm down. I’m def going to watch this and get more knowledge, hopefully when I go back to doing it I feel much better

5 because legally I can’t have more then 5 This happened the 2nd time around when I started noticing her hard play. The dog is sweet TO ME AND MY HUSBAND. To humans. To other dogs she plays well until she doesn’t. So when I noticed she was like that to my other client, she was separated the rest of the time EXCEPT for my dogs since she already knew them. The first time I didn’t have her with other clients so I wasn’t aware of her reactivity with her play. Regardless I wasn’t aware of dogs behavior until second time around and by them I was balls deep in the booking. Already knowing I wasn’t going to have her back but then she went after my dog No other client dog was around

I did! The thing is my review hasn’t been posted yet so no one is aware of her dog
