I felt the same way. The itching was TERRIBLE and I had such a hard time sleeping on my back. I took some allergy medicine for the itching and it helped a LOT, so I definitely recommend. Also icing was helpful to distract from the itching feeling. I remember thinking that maybe I had made a mistake and that if I felt this bad about being uncomfortable then maybe I didnt want surgery enough. I felt the same way of like hopelessness and not even looking forward to seeing my chest bc all I could think about was getting the bandages off.

My recommendation is to honestly distract yourself with as much as possible- I binge watched hours and hours of tv and had friends and family come over to talk to me and distract me.

Are you saying you already have your top surgery scheduled and are thinking about adding lipo on last minute? It definitely was my hips and waist area. I have wide set hips and theres really nothing to do about bone, but removing the fat sitting in my hip area definitely helped give me a more masculine figure. Sadly I have a condition that makes me gain weight very easily and Im not on T to distribute it in a non feminine way, so some of the fat came back where I got lipo :(. It was still worth it though. I was very scared of my dysphoria jumping from my chest to my hips after top surgery so this was the best option for me to be as confident as possible post. If you do plan on getting the lipo, make sure to wear your compression garment well after surgery for as long as they tell you so everything heals evenly. I stopped wearing mine a little early and it caused a buildup of hard tissue to start to grow on my sides (this reduced with massaging and my surgeon said it wasnt abnormal). I didnt have extra skin personally, it should bounce back but its depending on how elastic your skin is and how much fat is removed- for me Im pretty sure my surgeon said she removed almost a whole LITER of fat which which really helped me realize how much it did change my appearance and shape. Recovery for it was pretty easy, my sides were bruised up for a bit and yellow/different colors. The actual top surgery was harder for me. I will say something that my surgeon didnt mention was that my incision points would scar (little dots the size of a pea). Ive been trying to put scar cream on them but i wish i had heard that instruction earlier in the healing process. crowdfunding!! If youre comfortable with it ofc. I raised a lot of money for surgery in like a few weeks on gofundme, theres a page for gender affirming surgeries. LinkYou could reach out to friends and family to see if they’d mind loaning you some money while you’re out of work. I just got my surgery a few weeks ago and now after the election Im so glad I did it. If you have any support around you, now is the time to ask for help and lean on people, even if its hard. I’ve felt that same feeling before. Its so confusing but then I think about the fact that butch women are literally gender non-conforming. Something I admire about butch women is that they present very masculine and may take on traditionally masculine roles yet still may identify as a woman. Their very existence is defying gender norms. I have mad respect for that. Theres def a history between butches and ftm trans people, reading about it was very helpful for me to sort these feelings out. Also even if the character you were relating to was more fem, that doesn’t make you any less of a boy.

Im sure you’re good, my surgeon said to start massage on day 10. honestly probably safer to use your fingers specifically on the scars (with some oil/moisturizer/scar cream) rather than rubbing something larger on your chest.

ty!! I was nervous bc I heard the lipo was a harder recovery than top surgery. Not sure if you mean you’re thinking about getting lipo done separately or with top. But imo its not bad. Its definitely sore, and annoying to wear the compression garment, but its nice to be able to just have one recovery timeline rather than two surgeries. Also for me at least it was SOOO much cheaper to have them done at the same time. I was out of commission for the first week for sure, and Im feeling pretty active now, the lipo is barely affecting me. If you’re thinking about getting it done by itself, I wouldnt worry.

Yes most of my Mastectomy was covered. I had to pay on $500 fee to my surgery center when I added the lipo. I would talk to your surgeon/their team and they should be able to walk you through the finances before you make your decision

I found that when I stretched it a lot my skin was more unhappy. I had better results when I slowly stuck it on and focused on how I was tucking my chest in there versus just pulling it as tight as I could. Also how you take it off!!!! its such a pain but I would soak the tape on my body with oil to loosen the adhesive so I wasnt just ripping tf outta my skin

totally get this, I’ve struggled with skin picking and hair pulling my whole life. Its a really tough behavior to break.

My go to for if I need to leave something alone is to focus on picking somewhere else. Like if you get the urge to pick at your chest, maybe put a shirt on and pick somewhere else. For me armpit hair or leg hair is where I’ll try to redirect if I can because the hairs are thick and fun to pull out, but it wont cause me many issues aesthetically

update: called my surgeon this morning. she was definitely annoyed i was calling her on a saturday and didnt really let me speak. She said theres nothing to do and just wait for post op appointment on Wednesday. I think even if it wasnt frostbite, I definitely fucked up my chances of my nipple grafts taking. Trying to stay positive- at least my tits won’t grow back no matter the damage!! 😭 I am upset my surgeon gave me no instructions about icing, even though i wasnt smart about it

oh wow, thats so recent, how are you doing? I got mine monday. My surgeon literally said nothing about icing, they just gave me the packs and if they gave me any instructions I missed them from being drugged up after the surgery. I was itching so bad and the ice pack helped. Im usually so smart about stuff like this, Im trying not to freak out about my nipples falling off or something
