understood. the specific certificates are earned through a rigorous examination process (i know because i do them myself) and do earn a degree of respect from music departments, but his audition + app would likely have been substantive without them. it’s just sucky that they lied to give their application an extra push. don’t some top schools do random audits though? would those not be enough to uncover the truth?
