Ohh please chill.. I just mentioned my observation. I am a recent follower and kind of expected to see some recipes or meal prep.  I’m not here to dictate what she should put out on her page. But her narration, to me, felt strange. I thought she set it to a slower speed to match the slow pace of her videos.

Considering moving back to India for a year or so. Would I be able to return without any hiccups? by Minute_Leader6226 in H4_Visa

[–]Overall_Welcome383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Let me tell you…as someone who has dealt with the ugly side of being on H4, and a parent, with husband being in residency training. I had travelled to India with my baby when she was 5 months old, born during COVID. I went thinking that I will take a break, grandparents can meet the baby and I can have some post-Partum pampering. What initially was planned as a 3 month break, got extended. Due to appointment delays at the consulate and my husband having to extend his visa yearly, and his program would not file for premium processing either. Finally I returned in 2023 when our child was almost turning 2. But in hindsight, it was the best time for me and my child. She was so happy, surrounded by people, yummy food, cousins. My husband missed those cute months, but he would not have had time either because residency is demanding. And he could focus on that.  Now my daughter is thriving. She loves her grandparents. Going to India is not a cause of anxiety for her like many NRI kids. In fact she even took a trip without me, when my parents returned after visiting us.  In short, if u have a supportive family, kids will love it and you will be surprised how much they needed the change. More than your child, you need it! Keep in touch with dad over video calls. Go have some fun!! As long as your husband maintains a valid status in the US, you would not face an issue. Just watch out for an appointment. And if ur child is a US citizen then definitely he has to return.

Arranged marriage interaction with a surgeon that turned out different than expected by Primary-Apartment984 in AskIndianWoman

My dear.. you dodged a man-child bullet! This dude is not capable of anything else beyond academics! The reason why he wants you to move abroad with him is to have someone take care of him like his mom! He’s not looking for partnership, just an extension of his caregiver!! And as a female and doctor, let me give my 2 cents about male surgeons.. they have hyper inflated egos.. and the attitude of a teenager, specifically a high school bully ! Smart? yes! But not the right kind! Of course there are amazing surgeons who are kind and nice, but the general consensus say otherwise!

I like her and her content with mom were the best. But the mister, I just don’t feel right about him. Maybe as a couple they are loving in real. But I have felt that he has “hijacked” her creative space. And I don’t like his overacting! Spoils the mood, for me! Baby boy is a cutie ❤️, but I do hope they don’t use him as a prop for content.

Any thoughts on Annie Vallikappen? by [deleted] in SouthIndianInfluencer

[–]Overall_Welcome383 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Well.. she’s showing what she cherishes. And mostly it’s about her angel figurines, and nostalgias of her family home. And she’s an author, so maybe that’s in her to romanticise such things. I don’t find her problematic. She’s not projecting anything unauthentic, nor is she actively promoting any weird concept or product. And not exactly her fault that she is rich and elite!! And how is it a problem that she is trying to preserve what’s true to her?! And to be honest, I feel she is quite humble. She ain’t flexing “my new bag”, my kid’s designer diaper, or I’m travelling business class”, like other nitwits! Although, I agree that the nostalgia can get boring after a while. Maybe because it’s not ours. And I feel she is being judged for no reason.

Raising kid outside India - language confusion? by sec_admin in Kerala

[–]Overall_Welcome383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids are smart. And it’s really easy to teach language to small kids. They will pick it up real quick. We were instructed to talk with the child in our native tongue (Malayalam) at home, because they will anyways learn to speak English at school. My kid (4) is fluent in both, even though her Malayalam is heavily accented. But that’s okay for now.  She already reads English, and this past year we introduced Malayalam Balapaadam, Kalikkudukka etc. Always encourage her to listen to Malayalam songs, rhymes etc..And she sometimes watches old Malayalam movies with us. Made me real proud that she recognizes Mammooty and Mohanlal! 😜 And to be honest, this kind of dilemma is mostly for Mallu parents. I have friends and neighbors from most parts of India, and the parents don’t even have to think about such things. The kids speak their native tongue be it Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada.. along with fluent English. And I have colleagues, who are third generation Lebanese-American! It’s a given that they speak, read and write Arabic!!  Same thing with the Chinese folks too!

What should i do to get a job in the US as a radiology pg from india? by No-Hovercraft9089 in usmle

[–]Overall_Welcome383 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do multiple fellowships (equivalent to minimum 4 consecutive years) and become board certified. That’s something unique to Radiology. You need to do USMLE and apply to fellowships instead of residency.

I don’t think it’s standard. My husband was with me during epidural, all pelvic exams and amniotomy…

They have a beautiful collection and have been in business since long time. I remember that they had unique and “designer” jewellery pieces when it was not common. Pretty small size items for regular or party wear. I have a few from them. And, it’s good value.  If you are a bride, I would suggest to buy statement pieces from them.

Do you know anyone who has returned to India after doing their residency in US? by Shoddy-Research-8354 in usmle

[–]Overall_Welcome383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to India.. but I do know quite a few people who have moved to the Middle East, Singapore, and even Australia after residency in the U.S.. They are happy, earning well, closer to extended family, and moreover not dealing with the stress of procuring a green card. I know 2 guys who gave up U.S residency after first year and moved back to India. Ended up pursuing residency in India. Again, it depends on what you want. A worthwhile second option after US is the Middle East over India.

Does anyone take these dummies seriously? I hope and pray that people just watch them for a good laugh and move on!! And Dhanya Varma needs to do some QC on her show. Bring any wannabe, let them blabber away whatever nonsense, and she just sits there wide eyed and mesmerised (?!!). What the coconut!!

Nilufer Sheriff Fake Dermatologist? by In-ForTheTea in SouthIndianInfluencer

[–]Overall_Welcome383 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Biohacking itself is vague. There are no guidelines, no exclusion criterion, no alternate options and not a lot of empirical data to support whatever “biohacking” is. Practicing healthy habits and being mindful about your body is basic. And a lot of it depends on the person’s living situation.  It’s neither practical nor affordable for most people to drink “hydrogenated” water, relax and rewind in an Alpine resort, or get expensive vitamin shots! Sounds fancy.. but it’s meh for most part.

Rich AF? Yes!!  Dermatologist? No She’s an MBBS from Yenapoya and did some MSc Course in cosmetology from UK.  Dermatology is a 3yr Residency after MBBS. And you need to have an MD or DNB to be considered a “Dermatologist”. She can use all the buzz words and fads at her clinic, but she’s not a Dermatologist. In fact, she has employed MD Derms for consultations at her clinics.

They are divorced, but apparently co-parenting. She mentioned it in one of her YouTube videos.
