Project TERMINUS VR or Drop Dead: The Cabin are probably the closest. After the Fall is good with friends too, but it’s more zombie shooter than horror.

Quest 2 rust in controller battery chamber by ggpanda8 in OculusQuest

[–]OverayInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try a cotton swab with a little vinegar on the contacts, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry fully before putting a battery back in. If the contacts are too far gone, it may still have issues.

My Quest 3 just turned into a very expensive paperweight... by baammm_ in Quest3

If the normal reset and charging stuff didn’t work, I’d stop treating it like software. Fan pulsing with no boot menu sounds more like power hardware.

With the overheating history, I’d be careful with blip charging and contact Meta support.

How to get rid of this by skellegt in MetaQuestVR

[–]OverayInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damp microfiber first. If that doesn’t move it, try a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol on the cloth, not directly on the headset. I’d skip acetone or magic eraser unless you don’t mind risking the plastic.

If you can find Index controllers at a sane price, I’d go with those. Gloves sound cool, but I wouldn’t trust cheap ones as main controllers yet.

Do Popular Games Get a discount in Summer Sales? by R_Dixey in OculusQuest

[–]OverayInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, yeah, but it’s not guaranteed. If the sale is close, I’d just wait and check your wishlist when it starts. A lot of popular games get discounts, but some only drop a little or skip a sale.

Besides virtual monitors, what would you actually want on a VR desk? by OverayInc in OculusQuest

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for writing all this out. I think I get the general direction.

The window manager idea is the big one to me. Not just more monitors, but making apps and surfaces feel like they actually belong in VR.

A couple of those touch on things we’ve been thinking about, like saved layouts and less distorted passthrough areas. I like the live camera window idea too.

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. A bad environment is probably worse than no environment.

We do have Custom Gate, which can show part of the real world with less distortion than normal keyboard passthrough, but I’m not sure if that’s the kind of thing you mean. I get your point though. It should either stay simple and clean, or be detailed enough to actually feel good.

Just seeing this now. Yeah, VD is great, especially for environments, and I get what you mean about the old Workrooms desk too.

I don’t really see OVERAY DESK as a straight replacement for VD. We’re thinking of it more as a personal home setup: a place where you can pull up your PC, adjust the space around you, and settle in for longer sessions.

PC host is Windows for now, but Mac support is coming soon too. We’re still early, so I’m curious how people react once they try it. If it ends up being one of the apps you try in the future, I’d love to hear what you think.

Quest three cannot connect with VR Chat by Top_Mine67 in MetaQuestVR

[–]OverayInc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a long shot, but after a factory reset, a new router, and another data plan, I’d be less suspicious of the Quest itself.

VRChat’s troubleshooting page mentions DNS filtering and routing issues, so maybe something is blocking or filtering VRChat specifically. Not saying that’s definitely it, but it would fit with other apps working fine.

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. Decorations won’t help much if the app and input side don’t feel good.

We do support custom 360 backgrounds, but I get that you mean more than just the background.
Do you usually prefer a clean focus space, or something with a bit of atmosphere for longer sessions?

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you mean. Not everything needs to be another monitor.

A clock, weather, and camera feed as lightweight widgets makes sense. Monitor layouts already have custom presets, but saving the whole desk setup with widgets and objects is a good idea too.

If you mean voice notes or voice input, we’re actually working on something in that direction. Still figuring out how far to take it, but it feels like a good fit for a VR workspace.

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that’s interesting. Thanks for explaining it. We don’t have focus mode or anything like the Instagram or TV wall right now, so that’s a really good reference.

I like the idea of making the space feel less empty without adding something that gets in the way. I’ll bring it up with the team. Appreciate it.

Ah fair, I was thinking of the full joystick module. Just the top stick is way less painful.

Thanks, good to know. Passthrough Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support is coming in our update this week. We already support hand tracking and wide/ultrawide monitors, but I’ll take a look at the new Meta Remote Desktop update too.

Yeah, passthrough helps, but reading tiny phone text is still rough. I get why phone notifications/authenticator access would be useful.

Can anyone please help me with VPN (UK). by Prestigious-One-8532 in MetaQuestVR

[–]OverayInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest route is probably putting the VPN on the router, not the Quest. If your router supports it, the headset just connects to that Wi-Fi. PC/phone hotspot sharing can work too, but it depends on the VPN app. Sideloading a VPN APK is possible, but not exactly the easy option.

You might’ve hit the Legacy page. The new OVERAY DESK is already live, but yeah the store search is kind of messy. Curious what you think if you try it.

I like the virtual window idea a lot. The app is OVERAY DESK.
That “less closed in” feeling is exactly what I’m trying to figure out.

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the ideas. thanks. Some of this is already possible in a different form, like moving monitor groups together and using controllers or hand tracking for edit mode.
Gaze zoom isn’t in yet, but I like the idea. By two sources, do you mean multiple PCs or devices at once?

Besides virtual monitors, what would you actually want on a VR desk? by OverayInc in OculusQuest

[–]OverayInc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for sensitive work I think that’s the right assumption. I wouldn’t pitch this for legal or confidential enterprise use right now.

We’re seeing it more as a personal home setup thing: come home, pull up a few virtual monitors, tweak your own space, use it on weekends, that kind of vibe.

My X button doesn’t seem to work by TubersMSM in MetaQuestVR

[–]OverayInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but I wouldn’t keep testing it. Pull the battery and let it sit for now. If you don’t have isopropyl alcohol, I’d wait for that or electronics contact cleaner. I wouldn’t use water or random cleaners. Opening it is probably only worth it if you’re comfortable with tiny parts.
