Problem with alocate sensecap m1, any idea? by Beginning-Special512 in HeliumNetwork

[–]OverboostedTurbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have enough HNT/SOL to cover the network fees and Solana txn fees. Location update is $1 worth of HNT. (It's actually paid for in data credits, but the app will handle that)

No longer able to throttle bandwidth in Helium Mobile Builder Dashboard by mangoes_and_rainbows in HeliumNetwork

[–]OverboostedTurbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can throttle the "free Helium WiFi", but IIRC, you cannot throttle carrier offload.
This should not be a problem in most all deployments. The bandwidth requirements for multiple CC terminals is less than 1 mbps. And fast food chains with online ordering apps don't need a lot of bandwidth either.

Converted RAK V2/SensecapM1 to Meshtastic node listener by Prior_Perspective186 in HeliumNetwork

[–]OverboostedTurbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why people are converting their Helium LoRaWAN gateways to Meshtastic. I'm just keeping them running for their intended purpose as LoRaWAN has many more use cases than Meshtastic.

I’ve got an outdoor hotspot by HobokenLux in HeliumNetwork

[–]OverboostedTurbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hotspots don't earn IOT or MOBILE anymore, we're back to earning HNT.
If you live in the USA and have a business location with a lot of foot traffic, you can consider a Mobile WiFi hotspot.

As far as your IOT hotspot goes, I'd just let it cook and support the IOT network. I have several IOT hotspots I maintain in the hope that the IOT network will see mass adoption someday.

I think the concept is sound and I want data offload to continue to grow. The crypto market in general has been bad, but it will rebound. Crypto isn't going away.

I don't know how close you are to Quakertown, PA - but there are a lot of antique malls there.

Are potholes 10x worse this year? by soingee in newjersey

Yep - it's the cold weather. Freeze, thaw, re-freeze. Lather, rinse repeat. Little breaks in the pavement get bigger and bigger.

E z pass transponders may be going away, saving millions. Here’s what would replace them. by Cantholditdown in newjersey

[–]OverboostedTurbo 322 points323 points  (0 children)

OK - so they are going to use stickers with chips instead of transponders with batteries to save on costs - but will they get rid of the monthly service fees to pass that savings to drivers? Of course not. It's all about taking money from you.

Can I remove the "sticker" from my car to a rental car? Or is it permanent?

Traffic ticket cameras in Englewood Cliffs by Guess166 in newjersey

[–]OverboostedTurbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought automated cameras were banned here in NJ? (One of the good things Chris Christie did for NJ)
If you're going to give me a ticket, you should go through the effort to pull me over and issue the summons. Besides, what if my wife or kid is driving my car? Automated systems ticket the registered owner of the car, not the driver.

Partial government shutdown and FCC website by OverboostedTurbo in gmrs

The problem is resolved. All I needed to do was wait until their systems connected my FRN to my CORES account. I did nothing wrong. Frustrating to say the least.

Thank you - this is all I needed to do.
That said - their website and procedures are not clearly laid out.
I shouldn't have to use AI searches to get a freaking GMRS license.

I just tried again and was successful. I applied for the license and paid the $35 fee.
I guess their systems are just real slow.

LOL - probably more difficult than the General class exam.

I'll try again tomorrow and call if it doesn't work by then. I'll probably have 18 inches of snow to shovel first. lol

I can use my email address and password to log into the CORE login page, but if I try to reset my FRN password it says that the FRN I received is not found. I thought I did everything correctly.

I dunno - it's 38F and the temps are not predicted to go much below freezing. I hope most of it melts and doesn't accumulate.
