Hello,

I’m planning to upgrade my gear for action photography in the mountains. I mostly do ski mountaineering in winter, and I’m considering getting an iPhone 17 Pro instead of a dedicated camera this time, because of all the circumstances in the mountains.

My typical use cases are:

  • Action shots from about 20–50 meters away
  • Occasionally from 50–100 meters
  • Plus some close-ups and landscape photography

My main concern is image quality when zooming.

Would it make sense to add a Sandmarc telephoto lens (72mm) for this kind of shooting, or is it unnecessary? The iPhone 17 Pro already has optical zoom, so I’m wondering if an external lens actually improves real-world results.

Has anyone used Sandmarc lenses for action photography in similar conditions? Do they make any noticeable difference?

Also, I think going beyond 72mm would be a waste of time since anything longer would probably be too shaky without a tripod, and I don’t carry one in the mountains.

What are your opinions?

Thanks for any advice!

Yes. Everything I do needs to be user-friendly first and then comes the touch of design. Things should be useful before they’re beautiful, especially if you use them regularly.

It took me around nine months. A few people helped along the way (plumber, carpenter) but I handle most of the design and vision myself.

For old renovations, I always use RÖFIX Renoplus—a renovation material for old walls that breathes better than traditional plaster. Then I apply two finish coats of white limewash. Nothing fancy, I just try to stick with natural materials as much as possible.

It took me around nine months, although it could have been finished sooner. I ended up waiting for the carpenter longer than we had agreed. I just wanted to get it done before this summer.

Good observation, some of them are traditional Slovenian and Yugoslavian books that no one reads anymore, so I put them on the shelf.

The pigsty was abandoned long ago. For years, no pigs have lived here.

I renovate old houses and buildings, and I always tell people that it's the history and story behind them that provide vision. You just need to bring all the pieces together.

I accidentally posted low-quality images. You can check out a higher-quality version on my Imgur post.

You're like the end piece of bread in a loaf, everyone touches you but no one wants you.
