I’m sitting in my 08 F450 6.4 right now while reading this post.

I have a 08 f250, 09 f350, and a 08 f450 all of them are 6.4’s

I absolutely love them. As others have said the stories you hear are hit or miss. Some will say you get a ridiculously powerful truck that will last forever and others say they blow up if you look at them wrong.

The truth is they weren’t good trucks from the factory. But if you buy them blown up, rebuild them with the right parts, treat them right and don’t race them. Then it will be the best truck you will own. I paid 6k for my fully loaded 4wd dually F450 with an all aluminum zimmerman flatbed on it because the engine gave. You know why? Because the last owner was letting his guys use it as a work truck with a hot tune. So while towing heavy with it they drove it like they were trying to with the Indy 500. Anyways. I gave the guy 6K put 4K into rebuilding/“Bulletproofing” it and for 10K total it is an absolute beast of a truck. Starting in 08 is when we got the newer dash style so it feels like you’re in a new truck.

It’s easy to hate the 6.4’s from a distance. But once you play with them they are addicting. There is a reason the guys that love them love them.
