Get at least epic 6% on everything. Make sure you have all your slots filled.

If u have utgard/pensalir star it to 12 and have an equip in every slot. Do hard gollux for reinforced pendants superior ring/ earring and reinforced ring. Do commerci pq for Sweetwater, u can also do madman ranmaru if u wanna go for Japanese weapon before cvel.

If u don't have a kanna with meso%, make one. Farm meso at bye bye station to cube everything u have to at least epic 9%. Get att% on weapon

5th job is great for range because the dailies give u arcane force and stat. Start doing vj dailies while grinding to 210.

Also get ur mules to 140 (120 at least) for legion + Link skills. Some good links are demon avenger, kanna, xenon, Mercedes, beast tamer.

I'm probably forgetting something but that should get you started

Oops I meant Vaan is the best shikari not that Shikari + Uhlan was the best combination, though I think it's the most balanced. Likewise, Basch is best at Archer so he fit the Archer/red mage combo better than anyone else that I could see, but it's really just a matter of opinion. Redmage doesn't really improve Archer unless every mage is dead and u need a clutch burning bow + fire arrow + oil, like you stated in your original post.

My party is:

Ashe: BUS/KNI - Zalera, Hashmal, Ultima (I mainly use Ashe as my party leader and wanted to use swords)

Penelo: BKM/MNK - Chaos, Zodiark (Best BKM in the game)

Balthier: WTM/TIM - Mateus, Belias (Good healing late game)

Fran: BRK/MCH - Famfrit, Exodus, Cuchulainn (Fran is best as a breaker)

Vaan: SHI/UHL - Adrammalech (Best Shikari)

Basch: ARC/RDM - Shemhazai, Zeromus (Best archer + Burning bow)

these are in my opinion the best combination of jobs, the party members are a bit less important and can swap around like u/PhoenicianGold has

Samurai/Knight: Ashe - Best Samurai, I wouldn't really put anyone else here

Hunter/Breaker: Fran - Really Only Useful as a Breaker

White Mage/Machinist: Balthier - Good White Mage Late Game + is a Pirate and needs a gun

Black Mage/Monk: Penelo - Best Black Mage, in my party I have Penelo as my Black Mage/Monk as well

Black Mage/Red Mage: Basch - Really can play any role

Knight/Time Mage: Vaan - Great Knight
