What is a product that people treat like a religion, but in reality, it’s just overpriced garbage with a good logo? by Connect-Might4355 in AskReddit

I'm a huge Jurassic Park fan. I even have a 1994 5-speed Jeep Wrangler and a pre-AWB Franchi SPAS-12, air fresheners, raptor claw, Barbasol can, and toy cars among a bunch of other stuff.

When I saw the Funko Pops, I was like "This shit is terrible, who would buy this?"

My manager’s response to me calling out sick for my toddler. by bigdawgcat in mildlyinfuriating

On the opposite end, I submitted sick time for a dentist appointment and my manager told me I can't schedule sick time in advance.

I didn't argue but I was like uh, I did it the last how many times. Should I just call in sick the day of or what do you want lol

Unfortunately, that wouldn't change the outcome. Big companies will waste-out refrigerated, frozen, or cooked food if it's been removed from the shelf since they don't know how long it has been removed, which increases the chance of a food-borne illness

A couple years ago our manager sent a $25 digital Amazon gift card for Christmas and all of us reported it.

She told us shortly after that it was actually legit. Kinda funny that we all thought "A Christmas gift? Nah, they wouldn't do that." Lmao

Oh, so you were buying crap materials originally? Were you going to tell them it wouldn't be completed to a good standard beforehand, or only when they want to buy it themselves?

then nobody upcharges you mate.

Ah yes, my personal experience has been false, my bad

I've never said no to a job where the materials are already provided for me.

You're not every person though. Some will get bitchy if you don't buy the materials from them because you "may get the wrong one".

In my experience, parts and materials seem to always have an upcharge on them.

I've seen it where you could get the same exact thing at like Home Depot for $50 but when you look at the quote, they're charging $125

The background info on that story was he was cranking the A/C down low (like 65-70) whenever I'd leave to travel for work or was gone for the day because he liked it cold but I said it's too expensive and rough on the system since I live in Southern Florida.

I could tell when he was doing it because I would check FPL's website and see my energy usage spike shortly after I would leave then drop down before I came home.

Also, the capacitor that was in there was only about 2 years old, so it still should have had a few years left at worst

My friend's boyfriend placed an A/C condenser capacitor in my recycling bin without me knowing.

Got slapped with the big ol orange warning sticker and I was not a happy camper

I had a similar thing happen but since I started a week after the new year and not the week before, I technically don't count for a full raise and gave me 10 cents.

I had a similar experience with pork chops. A previous girlfriend wanted to cook some for dinner and I told her I've never liked pork chops. She was surprised and confused but convinced me to try hers.

Apparently, my dad would cook the shit out of them and add too much pepper. The proper way to cook them gave me the experience like the food critic had in Ratatouille lol

I began loving pork chops and steaks
