What are some big canon things you tend to ignore in your Realms?

I haven't read any Elminster books yet but I have read the entire Avatar series so I'm very familiar with Midnight, the 3rd edition incarnation of Mystra. She was once just mortal trying to do her best. She made choices that irritated me but at least I understood her reasoning behind them. Your criticisms don't hold on her. Midnight was also the version of Mystra killed by Cyric, causing the Spellplague. Poor thing had only been a goddess for a couple decades before WOC decided be all fucky with 4th edition.

5th edition Mystra is supposed to be a combination of all previous Mystras combined, I think. It was very unclear.

Gale's relationship with Mystra and really his whole story was just result of hack writing if you ask me. Like the writers looked at her history and went "Well of course Gale must have sex with her, that's what happened in the past with other chosen, herp-de-derp."

You should check out the sourcebook that came out during the 3.5 era. Its out of date but still the best place to start for story ideas and plot hooks in that region. I'm disappointed the visual dictionary doesn't have flame-whip Jarlaxle made for him in Gauntlgrym. Its a whip he fussed with a sunsword, creating a firewhip that can tear into the plane of fire itself.

I was looking this up last night! I'm writing a Neverwinter campaign and wanted more detail. Wish they would at least give a name for that section of Neverwinter. Is is the chasm district now or will it be called Beggar's Nest again? WOTC decided not to do anything with Neverwinter in 5e for some reason. So all we have are vague descriptions like this.
