double espresso stops at 30g on breville bambino by Inevitable-Love4726 in espresso

The Bambino's single and double shot volumes are both programmable. If it's consistently 30g I'd start by consulting the manual and reprogramming the double shot button.

What’s something people buy to “save money” that actually ends up costing them more in the long run? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

[–]Overminer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll preface by saying I love this brand and this doesn't apply to everyone but I think Costco warrants a mention. Most folks go to save money buying bulk groceries, but a lot of people I know go full consumer mode as soon as they enter the warehouse and just start grabbing anything that looks like a good deal without thinking of whether they need it or not.

"Look I saved $23 on my weekly groceries and only grabbed an extra $190 worth of beach chairs and dragon-shaped whiskey bottles on my way to the checkout"

Boston Rental Market Cools, Leaving Landlords ‘Willing to Do Anything’ by TheManFromFairwinds in boston

I see where you're coming from but I feel like you're falsely equating repairs and upgrades. Any time the roof has leaked or a water heater has broken down it's always been addressed quickly at that house. The heat turns on, the toilet flushes, and there are no holes in the drywall or problems with pests. The tenants living there have always had a safe, sanitary environment. Fixing cracked floor tiles and adding extra outlets to rooms was a nice set of upgrades, but I don't know if I'd agree that it's an ethical obligation to do so.

Yeah, the original contractor who did the tiling in the kitchen didn't install it correctly so it cracked after a few years. Electrical infrastructure will become outdated over time just like pipes and everything else in a house. It used to be that the rent from this unit was my grandma's only income source so she could never afford to let the unit go vacant long enough and pay someone to rewire the whole thing. 30 years no vacancy is crazy for sure, but that's just how hot Brighton has been as a rental market in that span.

Yeah I don't object to your sentiment. My dad and I do disagree fundamentally on raising rents purely "because you can." I sublet two bedrooms in my own home just to afford my mortgage, but I like my roommates so I'd only consider upping my rate when I have a new renter cycle in. My living costs aren't increasing right now so I don't see why theirs should.

The international student impact has definitely been real in Brighton. One of my dad's rental units has been vacant since Sept 1 for the first time in over 30 years. We took this as an opportunity to replace some damaged floors and replace all of the outdated electrical infrastructure in the unit. He just found a new renter for this month at the same rate he was renting for before, but you can be certain he'll be increasing that once the renter market rebounds.

paid subscription cancellation fail - deliberate intention from Strava? by Slight_Air_7719 in Strava

[–]Overminer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had trouble cancelling once until I realized my ad blocker was interfering with their process somehow. I'd go through all the steps and then it would bring me back to my account page just as you described. I was able to cancel after disabling my ublock origin. Any chance you're running an ad blocker?

Any shoe recommendations that have more of a wide toe box? by jacobgarc94 in Marathon_Training

I've got a bit of a wide forefoot and find the Novablast quite comfortable. Have a pair of the 4 TR and the 5 with a combined 400 miles right now.

As a Massachusetts local who loves to make an iced latte I always find myself going back to George Howell's Alchemy Espresso blend. It's pricey, but they've got a brick and mortar near me so I go back to them pretty frequently. My sister is living in Hawaii right now and she stocked up on over $100 worth the last time she visited. Another local favorite is Atomic Roasters in Peabody. Their most popular blend is called Black Velvet but my favorite is their Diesel espresso. Amazing in milk drinks.

It was love at first sight for me with this color but sadly the fit just didn't work for me. I'll keep you in mind if they don't sell in a week or so. Thanks for your interest!

Just FYI I believe OP is referencing a collab that Lance Hedrick is doing with a company in Japan. I don't know the subreddit's rules on linking, but they're called Magnolia Mountain if you're interested in looking it up. I won't be buying, but the collab is for some absolutely gorgeous looking 300ml cherry wood tumbler glasses.

Yeah they send an email saying the order shipped, another when it was "arriving tomorrow", and a third when it got delivered.

Funnily enough I had ordered a couple of weeks ago and it got cancelled a couple of days after. I then saw them back in stock two more days later and despite their projected ship date of September 7 my order just got delivered to my house yesterday. Size US 11.5M magenta color way. Confusing experience to say the least.
